We're taking bets that Hottie of the Week...

Hottie Sofia Vergara is breaking onto the Hollywood seen in two movies this summer. This Colombian will be hotting up the movie screens in Lords of Dogtown and Four Brothers in the coming months. She is blessed with the alluring Latin sexiness. :)

Another great picture of Sofia.

We're taking bets that without question, the greatest invention in the history of mankind is beer...

Happy Friday Everyone!!! Question time has come once again at WTBT. Post your answers in the comments section. Have fun and have a wonderous Memorial Day Weekend.

A. Do you think the Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes romance is as fake as Michael Jackson and Lisa Marie Presley's was? Why or why not?

B. If you could have had the starring role in one movie already made, which movie would you pick?

ANSWERS

A. Absolutely!!! Everything about their romance is about them trying way too hard. Going on Oprah to talk about it was creepy. Even when you see them kiss is looks slightly awkward. I know nothing will ever eclipse Jacko's bizarre and awkward kiss of Presley at the MTV Video Awards, but Cruise is trying real hard.

B. This may be the hardest question to answer for me. The debate I have is whether I would be Lloyd Dobler from Say Anything, Harry Burns from When Harry Met Sally or William Thacker in Notting Hill. Each of them were very funny and ended up with the hot girl in the end. I think I would probably choose Lloyd Dobler because he was respected by all of his peers and he wasn't afraid to be himself.

We're taking bets that you have a little Arnzt on your shirt...

That was the best line in a fantastic season finale of LOST. It is excellent when in the first 1/2 hour a guy blows up waving an old stick of dynamite. That Hurley Guy is really a riot. I am going to be jonesing for more LOST all Summer. Damn Ian figured out that the rescuers were coming for Walt when everyone else thought they were actually being rescued. I hate when he does that. I can't tell him spoilers because he freaks out about it, but he can deduce stuff as we are watching it. Read his fun blog about going to the casino and our friend Dennis. I also could not believe that Carrie won American Idol. Now Oklahoma has something to be proud of other than football and cows.

By the way when you read Ian's blog about Dennis remember that he has set world records for shortest time working places. His Copy Cop record will never be broken in Springfield. :)

We're taking bets that I was excited about gas...

Now I am sure that the above headline makes people think that I was gassy and happy about it, but that is not what I am talking about. I went to pump gas and found that the price was only $2.05 per gallon. I was ecstatic and almost did an Irish Jig. (I am not Irish so I didn't do the jig.) In 1999 I paid $.99 and was fully content. That seems like eons ago now. I hope things change for the better or at least we get down to $1.50 a gallon. That seems reasonable. How sad is it that gas prices have changed so much that I am now excited by $2.05?

A couple of other quick thoughts.

* Did you know that unless you have aardvark farms in your area that the first listing in the business phone book is "Abortion"? I thought that was an interesting fact.
* What the hell was this lady thinking? It actually makes me miss my grandmother's crazy antics.
* Have you ever looked at the people around you on the highway early in the morning? Everyone seems too serious. The other thing I noticed is that most people are gripping the steering wheel like their lives depended on it. Maybe people who drive early in the morning just have really bad alignments and would crash if they didn't.
* I loved The Contender, but the Championship Fight was a little bit of a disappointment. Though my idol Bill Simmons disagrees with me. They fought great the first four rounds and then seem tired for the last three rounds. Congrats to Sergio "The Latin Snake" Mora for taking home the $1,000,000 prize. That Alfonso is one of my new heroes after beating Jesse. Remember little Mexicans always have spunk and heart.
* This may be the closest American Idol vote ever. Carrie performed a little better last night, but I think Bo was better throughout the show. Carrie is cuter than Bo so she has my vote.
* Shout out to Ian for his verbal recognition of "There are no Jedi's named Doug." I thought that was one of my funnier May comments. If I do say so myself.

WTBT Volume Fifteen...

We're taking bets that...

* Revenge of the Sith will break $300 million in sales before June is over.
* the Miami Heat could be in a lot of trouble against the Pistons.
* it was a very good thing that the US Senate reached a compromise over the judges.
* the stupidly named LA Angels of Anaheim were devestated to lose Vlad Guerrero.
* the word "Great" will never be the same.
* you can't believe Ricky Williams is actually going to play football again for the Miami Dolphins.
* watching Jeopardy this week will be cool because Ken Jennings might lose.
* the 76ers should never have fired Head Coach Jim O'Brien.
* Lindsay Lohan looked awful on SNL this week. For the Love of God Eat Something Girl!!!
* tennis' Maria Sharapova looks unbelievably hot in her new camera commercial. Sorry Anna, but I think you are not the hottest Russian tennis player anymore.
* I have my money on Bo Bice to win American Idol, although Carrie Underwood is cuter.
* you have to give the Cincinnati Reds credit for releasing Danny Graves after he made an obscene gesture to a fan. (Granted he was pitching awful too, but it took guts to let him go.)
* smoking really does hurt you.
* although Red Sox fans love Kevin Millar he sucks right now and should be on the bench.
* the fun song of the summer will be Black Eyed Peas' "Don't Phunk with My Heart" and the most overplayed song will be Papa Roach's "Scars".
* most people don't really care that the French Open is currently being played.
* the girl buried alive story is both wonderful and depressing.
* I don't always enjoy when things are enigmatic.

We're taking bets that you should go all the way or don't go at all...

Here are a few random thoughts over the last few days.

* If you are going to go to a Star Wars movie in some sort of costume you should either go all the way or not go at all. At the 12:01 AM showing I saw many people in capes, but nothing else. A cape is not a costume, but rather a bad clothing accessory. Don't claim that you are a made-up Jedi either because that just makes you sad. There were no Jedi's named Doug.

* Some people just do not understand Star Wars. The problem is they complain about it when they probably never were going to like the movies anyway. These are not movies on the caliber of "The Godfather", but rather some of the best Science Fiction movies ever. Sorry there might be some bad dialogue, but never once did anyone say that line in any of the original movies was Oscar material.

* If you did not watch the Preakness this Saturday you missed perhaps one of the most amazing performances by a horse ever. Afleet Alex was almost on his way to the glue factory when he was tripped, but he recovered and then won the race. It was quite a feat.

* It quietly happened, but the best off-season move that the Patriots made was re-signing All-Everything Troy Brown. If you look up Team Leader in the Dictionary you should see his picture. I think he will be one of the big reasons that the Patriots win the Super Bowl yet again.

We're taking bets that Hottie of the Week...

Hottie Danielle Fishel from Boy Meets World fame. She has not done much since it went off the air, but she is due for a huge comeback. Here is to all those wonderful Topanga years!!! :)

We're taking bets that the first question I ask myself when something doesn't seem to be beautiful is why do I think it's not beautiful...

It is question time again at the WTBT offices. Post your responses in the comment section. I would also like to thank John Cage for the above headline quote.

A. What are your Top 5 Star Wars Characters?

B. If, like milk or the newspaper, you could have anything of your choice delivered to your doorstep every morning, what particular item would you want it to be?

Answers:

A.
1. Han Solo - Maybe the coolest person in the galaxy.
2. Obi-Wan Kenobie - Alec Guiness was excellent, but Ewan McGregor made him even better.
3. Chewbacca - He didn't wear clothes and no one cared.
4. Darth Vader - The best villian ever.
5. Padme - Hottest Woman in Star Wars History(Even hotter than Leia in the gold bikini)

B. I would like $100 dropped off on my door every day. That way I would always have some cash in my pocket and wouldn't have to worry about using my ATM card to get cash. Plus it would be an extra $700 a week tax free. :)

Wednesday, May 18, 2005

We're taking bets that there will be no more riddles...

Sadly Frank Gorshin passed away today. He was the great Riddler in the original Batman. It is a sad day for cheesy, tight wearing villians everywhere.

We're taking bets that the force is with you...

12:01 AM the Revenge will begin. Geeks, Nerds, Dweebs, Losers, and Spazoids unite for the last Star Wars movie ever. I don't really have much to say other than... "It better be freaking worth it!!!" Sorry for the short blog, but I am just too excited to write more. I will probably have a fun and exciting after the movie blog for everyone. Have fun everyone!!!

WTBT Volume 14...

We're taking bets that...

* it is very easy to screw up metaphors.
* the Yankees are only in a hot streak and will cool off soon.
* war between Mexican's and black America is about to begin thanks to Mexican Presidente Fox.
* thanks to Dwayne Wade, Shaq may not need to play until the NBA Finals and the Miami Heat will still win the Championship.
* it was sad to see Everybody Loves Raymond end its run.
* it would be awesome to see "Oil Can" Boyd make a comeback in the major leagues even though he looks like he is 80.
* seeing Tom win Survivor was nice because the person who dominated finally won.
* China is really making Yao Ming's life miserable.
* it is nice to be a guru in something.
* until tennis gets some more colorful characters like John McEnroe even painting courts blue will not entice people to watch the sport.
* it is important to watch what beer you drink.
* you are not surprised that Kentucky basketball discouraged Rex Chapman (He is the creepy white guy with the goatee) from dating black women in the 80's. The South still has some issues with race.
* with Britney, Jennifer Garner, and now supposedly J.Lo and Demi pregnant there hasn't been this many pregnant celebrities since Charlie Sheen was single. Oops, he is single again. Coincidence?
* Dontrelle Willis is one of the most gangly people you will ever find, but he is a great pitcher.
* Star Wars opens up at 12:01 am Thursday and thousands of geeks will start talking like Yoda for the next two months.
* Brad Pitt says that he and Jennifer Aniston had a complex break-up. Duh!!! How many break-ups have really been that simple?
* it is about time that Run of Run DMC is getting his own reality show. I mean he is still popular.
* the best golfer ever, Jack Nicklaus, is finally retiring after the British Open and if you have never seen him play even one hole you should watch it to see him.

We're taking bets that you don't want to be a wingnut...

I thought this was a very good article. It really exposes the fact that all minority groups have hidden agendas. Although it is a funny article I think that it exposes the fact that many people are wingnuts.

We're taking bets that dogs are not toys...

Whomever named small dogs toys dogs was nuts. Dogs were never meant to travel around in women's purses. It just isn't right. Now people can take their dogs everywhere. I understand if you are blind and need to travel with a dog. Then it is a need not a want. I went to my brother's graduation from Springfield College on Sunday and I saw at least 4 people with these dogs in their purses. I have seen more attractive rats in the Boston T. Why have we become such an odd society that needs to carry our dogs? I blame that stupid Paris Hilton.

We're taking bets that Hottie of the Week...

Hottie Sara Foster from the movie the Big Bounce. She was also in the clunker movie D.E.B.S. If you haven't heard of it, it is because it was in the theaters about 2 hours and everyone left. She is still a hottie though. :)

We're taking bets that charm is a way of getting the answer yes without asking a clear question...

It is question time again at the WTBT offices. Post your responses in the comment section. The first question is a little risque and the second question should provoke good answers since many of my readers are graduating or looking for new places to live. I would also like to thank Albert Camus for the above headline quote.

A. If you could have a relationship with someone famous who was your opposite sexual preference who would your top 5 choices be? (Bi-sexuals do not have to answer these questions, but as always are more than welcome to.) Don't read into it... just answer the question.

B. You move to a new residence and have absolutely no household items or furniture. If you were on a tight budget, what would your first purchase be? If you had unlimited funds, what would your first purchase be?

WTBT Answers

A.
1. Ben Affleck - He was engaged to both J. Lo and Jennifer Garner. There has to be something special about that guy.
2. Orlando Bloom - Geez that guy is dreamy.
3. Tim McGraw - That guy is just cool. Old School Cool.
4. Tom Cruise - If he is good enough for Katie Holmes then he is good enough for me.
5. Robert Redford - Older guy who just has that something about him.

B. If I was strapped for cash a bed would be my first purchase because at least I would spend quality time there every day. If money was no object I would be buying the best entertainment system on the market. Loew's theater would have nothing on me. :)

We're taking bets that she did not just do that...

It is not often that I am shocked by a news story, but it happened today. A lady in Myanmar was breast feeding tiger cubs to keep them alive. Unfortunately the tiger's livers could not handle the breast milk and they died of dehydration. Ummm excuse me WHAT?!? The tiger's mother didn't want them so human breast milk was tried. Now over my years I have heard women complain about human babies biting during breast feeding. That could definitely leave a mark. I wonder if my women readers would volunteer for this job if they could. I know tiger cubs are cute, but that might be a little much.

We're taking bets that new technology is not for everyone...

Here are a couple random thoughts over the last few days.

* Many supermarkets across the country now have self-serve check-outs. Although this is supposed to be a quicker way to go through the check-out lines some people are not ready for this privilege. I observed a lady yesterday struggle with every item that she needed to scan. For the most part the barcodes are on the bottom of packages. This lady couldn't find many of the barcodes as she only looked on the front and the top. I almost took the items and scanned them myself. Technology is wonderful, but we still need people to help some of these idiots. I won't get on my soapbox about still needing people to provide service, but it really will be a shame if we lose cashiers at supermarkets.

* Although I do not have children, I think that it is a problem to yank a toddler by am arm in order to pick them up. Dislocation comes to mind as well as freak kids with one arm drastically longer than another.

* What is going on with the guy selling the Jesus Christ's Pants on E-Bay? This freak says that Jesus came to him naked and borrowed some clothes. After he wore them he gave them back. I actually think the guys name was Jesus pronounced Hay-Seuss and this fool let a homeless guy wear his clothes.

* I truly think we need a break from brutal killings of children in the United States. How about a nice story about a person who is killing crazy pedophiles? Or even a happy story about Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston getting back together. It is depressing and although most news is depressing, children murders are the worst.

* Is anyone besides me tired of the saying, "______ is the new black." What the hell does that mean? When was black the "in" color that we need to say that? It seems like a ridiculous thing to say and I think we need to come up with something different. Any suggestions?

WTBT Volume Thirteen...

We're taking bets that...

* it is hilarious when ordering Turkey Tips from the 99's that you accidentally say Turkey Tits.
* Giacomo was more than a longshot at the Kentucky Derby; he saved himself from the glue factory with that race.
* Jack Bauer is going to die on the season finale of 24.
* Shaq was robbed in the NBA's MVP voting. Though it was nice to see a white guy win.
* there is something very weird about Renee Zellweger and Kenny Chesney getting married.
* let's hope this kid decides to go to school. It would be a refreshing change.
* Paula Abdul is a cold hearted snake. Just look into her eyes.
* gives congrats to the Sports Guy who is now the Sports Dad.
* it would of been funny to watch Tony Danza flip over in a go-cart.
* everything is turning up roses for New England sports. Even the Revolution are winning this year.
* I am so excited about the new Star Wars movie that I may need to take a week off to recover.
* you knew the Yankees were going to have some sort of winning streak before May was over.
* there is something very disturbing about the Pope John Paul II baseball card.
* Wade Miller could be the Red Sox early season pitching savior.
* this article might show proof that you don't choose to be gay, but rather are born that way.
* the Mavericks, Wizards and Pacers do not have a chance in their respective Playoff Series'.
* even if you hate musicals you should go and see Spamalot because Monty Python may be the funniest thing to ever hit Broadway.
* although Jeff Van Gundy retracted some of his statements about referees you know there had to be some truth in what he said.
* Britney Spears new TV show may make summer television worth watching.
* New England fans were psyched Tom Brady signed a contract extension and did it for reasonable money. That's why they win SUPER BOWLS!!!
* Dave Chappelle is being haunted by Rick James... BITCH!!!

We're taking bets that sharks just decided to start attacking people...

Straight out of the jokes from Dane Cook is this shark story. I think that I may be able to fend off a shark attack, but I don't think I would want to go right back into the ocean. Then further down in the article is the people that have been cut in half by sharks. HOLY CRAP!!! Losing an arm is one thing, but being bitten in half. That is just crazy.

We're taking bets that it is time to honor Mom...

So I have searched the universe for Mother's Wisdom and Funny Sayings on this day we honor our Mother's. Here are my favorite 25. You may of heard these. You may even use them today. Tell me your Mother's favorite words of wisdom or sayings.

Don't use that tone with me!
Were you born in a barn? Close that door!
If your friends jumped off a bridge, would you do it too?
Shut the door - I can't pay to heat the whole neighborhood.
I'm not everyone else's mother - I'm your mother.
What do I look like, your maid?!
Close your mouth when you're eating - you look like a cow
Turn off the light!Do you think we own the electric company?
Do you think money grows on trees ?
A little soap never hurt anyone.
I'm not talking just hear hear my own voice!
How can you sleep in an unmade bed ?
"I don't know" is NOT an answer.
If you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all.
Rob, Ron, Julianne, Greg... Whatever your name is.
Look at me when I'm talking to you.
There's enough dirt in those ears to grow potatoes.
There's someone either dying or being created under your bed - look at all this dust.
Two wrongs don't make a right.
What do you mean CARRY ME - I carried you for nine months.
What do you mean you aren't going to eat everything on your plate - think of those poor starving children in India.
You WILL eat it, and you WILL like it.
I'm going to give you until the count of three.
You made your bed - now lie in it.
Why ? Because I SAID so, that's why !!!

We're taking bets that Hottie of the Week...

Hottie Evangeline Lilly from ABC's Lost. She is fantastic on one of the greatest shows on TV currently. She has a wonderful smile and some spectacular hair. It is amazing too because her character doesn't get to use conditioner to help it have that healthy look. :)

We're taking bets that we need condoms for seagulls...

I have found the most wonderful story of the week, but please read this first. Those damn seagulls have infected our penguins with chlamydia. Now everyone knows that seagulls are the gigglos of the sky. It is basically like they are in the Navy and have someone at every port. Penguins aren't too smart so they fall prey to the seagulls pick-up lines. (Ex. Is that a minnow in your pocket or are you just happy to see me? & Do you like whales? Well I have a hump-back at my place. ) Plus penguins are always dressed for a party so the seagulls bring the fish and the night of fun is on. Damn those seagulls. It's like... Wham, Bam, Waddle Maam. It just sickens me. :)

Chlamydia outbreak kills a dozen penguins

Does anyone like my new blog colors. It is just a test so tell me what you think.

We're taking bets that the question is not whether we will die, but how we will live.

It is question time again at the WTBT offices. These two questions are pretty simple and hopefully will generate some good answers. I would also like to thank Joan Borysenko for the above headline quote.

A. What are your five favorite foods/drinks that you only eat during the summer months?

B. What's your favorite kitchen utensil/appliance? Why?

ANSWERS

A.

1. Linguisa - Costa got me hooked on this stuff.
2. My famous BBQ Chicken Salad - I stole the recipe from GW.
3. Starbucks Passion Tea Lemonade - This is heaven in a cup.
4. My Mom's Macaroni Salad - It is most excellent and she only makes it in the summer.
5. Fresh Lobster from the Naragansett Pier in Rhode Island - The best dinner down at the house on stilts.

B.

This is actually a tough questions. I mean there are so many to choose from. I first thought that the electric hand mixer because you can lick off the beaters after you are done. This is great with things like frosting. But I decided that the metal spork is the greatest invention ever for the kitchen. You can cut things with the side. You can stab stuff to eat. You can also eat soup. What a wonderful invention. Mind you it is tough to find a metal spork, but if you can find one you will keep it with you at all times because you never know when you might have a food emergency.

We're taking bets that I will not be reading this book...

So the oldest living Munchkin has written a book about his experiences in the movie The Wizard of Oz. Now many of you have heard about my disdain for the good old Wizard. Do we need a book about a freaky movie. I mean the munchkins in general were a little weird with their odd speech patterns and songs about the Lollypop Guild. Now the old coroner is going to tell us all about his adventures.

The weirdest thing about the article is the fact that he prefers the term "Munchkins" over "Little People." If you call someone a Munchkin today you would get punched in the kneecap or kicked in the shin. Though maybe it helped to destroy the evil organization HELP (Hate Everything about Little People). I guess everyone has something they would like to be called. I mean I think that many boys would have rathered the size "Big Kid" over the awful term "Husky". Husky is a dog not a size for boys. Anyway, I guess it is now PC to use the term Munchkin and I am going to try it. I just have to get my shin guards and cup on first. :)

We're taking bets that it is time for a celebration...

So tomorrow is Cinco de Mayo!!! As someone with some Mexican descent in him through Spain I will be having the obligatory Tequiza and Corona with Lime. I was thinking about all the great things that Mexico has contributed to the world. Here is my list:

1. Mexican Food - When my mouth is on fire I am very happy. Of course there is a good chance that I will be unhappy later and so will the toilet.
2. Salsa - it is not only a great condiment, but a fun word to say. Seinfeld hit is right on the head with that joke. Everyone say it with me, "SALSA SALSA SALSA!!!"
3. Salma Hayek - She has one of the best accents in the world and the beautiful body to back it up. My favorite scene of hers is when she is dancing in the kitchen making dinner during the movie "Fools Rush In" with Matthew Perry.
4. Montezuma's Revenge - You cannot not find a better name for awful diaherra than that. You could try, but you would fail.
5. Tequila - This is practically a no brainer. What alcohol has lead to more ONS (One Night Stands) than tequila. I would venture to say that most of the Mexican population was conceived due to tequila. :)

What things do you love about Mexico? Drop me a note. Enjoy Cinco de Mayo!!!

WTBT Volume 12...

We're taking bets that...

* if you are an animal you do not migrate to Sweden.
* the Baltimore Orioles will win the American League wild card.
* The Contender is the best reality show on TV that no one is watching.
* Jeff Van Gundy got the $100,000 question wrong when he critized NBA officials.
* you can't get a much better nickname for the Runaway Bride than Flee-ance.
* there are not too many better websites to check daily than ESPN's Page 2 Daily Quickie.
* it is good to change the sheets when you sleep in someone else's bed for a few days.
* the Cleveland Cavaliers are making a big mistake not offering Phil Jackson a job.
* you are a little sad that Everybody Loves Raymond is over but Will & Grace is still on. It was once groundbreaking and funny; not anymore.
* Ray Allen is the best player in the NBA not named Shaq.
* Will Farrell's Kicking & Screaming is going to be one of the funniest movies of the summer.
* the new look Yankees are going to be as bad as the old Yankees.
* Macauley Culkin testifying in Michael Jackson's trial defense is going to be his best acting performance since Home Alone 2.
* Terrell Owens should stop bitching about his contract that he signed last year and play two more season before asking for more money.
* if you are ugly this story should bother you. :)
* Keith Foulke will get out of his Spring funk to become the best closer in the American League.
* Pfc. England deserves any punishment she gets and probably will deserve worse.
* even if you love Curt Schilling you have to admit he talks way too much.
* this is the feel good story of the month.
* sports t-shirts are fun, but #13 is my favorite.

We're taking bets that kids are precocious...

First, I bet you don't believe that I spelled "precocious" right on my first try, but I did. Can you believe the 3 year old that hopped on a bus and then snuck into a movie theater.? All because he wanted to see the movie Robots. I couldn't even tie my shoes at 3 years old. That is determination. I understand that the father needs to be punished, but if your kid is that determined nothing short of tying him down with rope will stop him. I mean just try picking up a kid that is not getting their way and they go all jelly body on you. It scares me to have children because I realize that they will probably be smarter than me by the time they are 5 years old. Okay maybe 3 years old but smarter than me nonetheless.

Second bet of the day is that you do not know what the word "precocious" means. I have included the definition for everyone. If you get the definition wrong you owe me a penny next time you see me.

Lastly, were you shocked that Katie Holmes is a virgin or did you expect that from the All-American girl. It makes me have a hell of lot more respect for her and her ex-Chris Klein (even though he was just found guilty of drunk driving). Though I still think she lost my number; we would have been married years ago and this wouldn't even be news. :)

We're taking bets that fog is nothing to laugh at...

Last night I drove home from seeing Dane Cook at BU. (Thank you Pascha for thinking of me.) It was a wet night but the rain had stopped. Little did I know it was going to be the scariest ride of my life.

Fog is kind of like the guy from Seinfeld who was a sidler. It just creeps up on you and you look away for a second it is right in front of you. The problem with fog is that it makes seeing very difficult. I know that a lot of people have stated that the fog was as thick as pea soup, but that is just ridiculous. The fog last night wasn't like pea soup, but rather like the gel that forms on the top of soup. You can't see through it and it is kind of gross.

I was travelling along with my cruise control at 74 MPH when I encountered fog that would only allow me to see 2 feet in front of me. I had to slow down to 50 MPH while being petrified that someone was going to ram into me from behind. It was very scary. You can't even see the lines on the road.

Then the fog suddenly lifted and I couldn't believe I had traveled as far as I did. It was like I just entered Earth's atmosphere from space. It was quite an experience.

We're taking bets that To be on a quest is nothing more or less than to become an asker of questions...

It is question time again at the WTBT offices. These two questions are pretty simple and hopefully will generate some good answers. I would also like to thank Sam Keen for the above headline quote.

A. Who are your top five artists that you have to seen in concert before you die? (They should be band you haven't already seen.)

B. If you could have a romance with any fictional character, who would it be and why?

ANSWERS

A.
1. Peter Gabriel (In Your Eyes is incredible. His Live 2 disc CD is incredible.)
2. Jimmy Buffet (Margaritaville and Parrotheads. What could be better?)
3. U2 (20+ years of great music and I have never seen them. What is wrong with me?)
4. Kelly Clarkson (Gosh she's pretty and she can sing too.)
5. Green Day (They have to put on an incredible show.)

B.
This is a tough question. There are so many great fictional characters. I think that ultimately I would go with Sally(Meg Ryan) in When Harry Met Sally. She was very fun and a little neurotic. Definitely gorgeous even though the 80's hair has to go. (Close 2nd is Claire Forlani's character in the movie Boys and Girls. She was very cool in that movie and extremely hot.

We're taking bets that you need to be careful what you say...

I read this quote on Bill Simmons Sports Guy website. I will limit my comments because it speaks for itself. :)

"He had to cut the wind with his balls, which is something we had to see." -- 49ers coach Mike Nolan commenting on the team's private workout with Alex Smith before the 2005 Draft

I now know why he was drafted number 1. I bet most men can't do that. :)

We're taking bets that you can't believe it either...

Here are a couple of quick thoughts and observations...

* Katie Holmes dating Tom Cruise is wrong on so many levels. First I think that Katie lost my number and if she needs it I am more than willing to give it to her. Second why do short guys have all the luck? Tom is what 5'5"? Damn being tall. :)

* this was the funniest thing I read yesterday by Peter McEntegart of CNNSI.com:

Yanks star Alex Rodriguez clubbed three homers and collected 10 RBIs in a monster game Tuesday against the Angels. A-Rod's critics weren't impressed, saying he'd never be so productive for a winning team.

* There is definitely a conspiracy going on with American Idol. Scott Savol is perhaps the worst singer I have heard in four years of American Idol and America keeps voting for him. The only thing worse was that weird John Stevens kid last year. I support big guys across the world, but this guy has loser written all over him. Everything about him is weird especially those sunglasses and goatee that really hasn't filled in well. If you were 8 years old you would be throwing jolly ranchers at this guy during lunch. Okay maybe that went too far, but I just don't like him.

* Everyone has heard the statement, "The weirdos come out at night." I don't agree with that statement since I have been at work at 7am every morning now. It could be just the Greater Springfield area but I have seen some creepy things. Especially the guy today who was in a neon green half shirt. He was a minimum 60 years old and had a pot belly that pregnant women would be proud of. I was stopped at a light and he was making train noises next to my car. Now he could have been singing "C'mon Ride It" by Quad City DJ's, but I don't think so.

We're taking bets that supporting your support staff is cool...

Today is Administrative Professional's Day across the United States. This is no doubt one of those days invented by Hallmark to further their gazillion dollar corporation. I do believe that Support Staff does not receive the proper amount of credit and encouragement. A day does help, especially in the office that I am working in where they have received no support for many years. I was put in charge of gifts and cards. That is a major mistake to do as I always go way above the budget I am allotted and usually spend a bunch of money out of my own pocket. So the ladies(no guys) received tulips, daisies and cards signed by everyone. They got a pizza lunch and cannolis and eclairs as dessert. Hopefully they enjoyed it. :)

Having this day makes me wonder if there are other appreciation days that we are missing. Is there a plumber appreciation day where everyone wears their pants a little to low so they can honor the plumber's crack when they bend over? Is there trash person appreciation day where everyone sprays their trash with pleasant smells? What other kind of fun days are there?

WTBT Volume Eleven...

We're taking bets that...

* while most businesses try to get away from stereotypes, city workers embrace them and make them worse.
* when it gets cold David Wells is an awful pitcher and I am real worried about October.
* this is a fun story of treasure and intrigue. Well at least the treasure part.
* every National League pitcher should be very afraid because Barry Bonds is off crutches.
* you are getting a little tired of 50 Cent and his 1,000 songs that are on the radio right now.
* only Lost & 24 make you say, "HOLY SHIT!" on a regular basis.
* if you saw Tracy McGrady's dunk over Shawn Bradley last night you were absolutely amazed.
* there is something very gross about a dog's nose in the early morning.
* even though you like the NFL Draft it is very boring.
* you need to see the link in Zach Braff's Blog April 22nd. (He is the guy on Scrubs and Garden State). It is absolutely hilarious.
* it is nice to see the Yankees consistently losing.
* umm I don't have much to say about this other than EWWWWW!!!!
* two UCONN football players being drafted is just a sign of things to come for that program.
* this gives new meaning to the saying "Later Alligator."
* there was a lot of fucking snow in the Midwest.
* Maurice Clarett should never have been drafted in the third round by the Broncos.
* it bothers you that reports say girls are using steroids too. Aren't they supposed to be the smarter gender.
* the New England Patriots quietly pieced together a great draft.
* George Lopez's wife showed truly love by donating her kidney to him.
* it was only a matter of time before Reggie Miller hit a game winning shot against the Celtics.
* you can't respond to an old lady in your office who says, "I am so glad I am going to die soon."
* it is about time someone finally made an honest women of Elton John.

We're taking bets that it is best to keep your eyes on the road...

I have an addiction that I think is practically universal among the drivers in the United States. I cannot resist looking at the cars next to me at a stop light. I have tried but the temptation is too much. I have seen many interesting things over the years with the top two activities being seat dancing to music and picking their nose.

Well todayI looked over and the gentleman in the passenger seat of the mini-van next to me had a steak knife in his hand and he had it near his face. Now I am not sure why he was doing this, but it scared me immensely. It was about a half hour after that I thought maybe he was holding the woman driver hostage. It is possible that he was just trimming his sideburns and this was his only time he had and the only way he could do it. I also had the thought that maybe he was mentally challenged (is that the politically correct term) and the steak knife calmed him down or was his imaginary friend, but then that just seemed to ridiculous and dangerous.

Has anyone seen anything more interesting than that? I think that may be tough to top. Remember a little kid making faces doesn't count. Though if a little kid was wielding a steak knife that may trump my guy. Post a comment to tell me your looking story. I know you do it.

We're taking bets that alma mater is becoming a bad word...

Both of the schools that I have graduated from have received some very bad press the past two weeks. South Windsor High School had an incident regarding gay rights and Western New England College had an incident regarding bigotry. Both of these issues are very disturbing to me.

I don't have much to say but I do think they were handled very badly. While I don't agree with the High School students actions I think that they had a valid right to display them on t-shirts which were not vulgar or distasteful. The administration made a very poor choice in dismissing them from school for the day.

In the College situation I think that this incident has been blown way out of proportion. Because WNEC is so white dominated it will never look like they did the right thing in race issues. I don't know the sanctions that occurred to the students but it seems like nothing but dismissal would be acceptable to the opposing groups. Is that the educational thing to do? Colleges and Universities should be educating students with their discipline not taking education away from them.

People say that we have evolved from the 1960's but I think in some ways we have gotten worse. The big problem is our students aren't protesting anymore they are just complaining and getting lawyers to fight battles. Bigotry will always be around and until people truly open their minds to others we will not have evolved. Ideas and opinions should be what bring us together not what pull us apart. I apologize for the heavy subject, but I needed to vent. Tell me what you think.

We're taking bets that Hottie of the Week...

Hottie Blake Lively from the teen coming of age movie Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants opening on June 3rd. She has just hit the movie scene and maybe a new superstar in the Lindsay Lohan mold except a little less slutty. Hopefully this beauty will be around for a long time.

We're taking bets that you must judge a person by their questions rather than their answers...

It is question time again at the WTBT offices. These two questions are pretty simple and hopefully will generate some good answers. I would also like to thank Voltaire for the above headline quote.

A. Now that it is Spring and the weather is getting better what are the 5 activities that would skip out on work to go do during the Spring/Summer months?

B. You've no doubt heard the expression "Wake up and smell the coffee!" If you could wake up every morning to the distinct smell of any one thing, what would you choose?

Answers

A.
1. Going to the beach. My Spanish skin loves the sun.
2. Getting an Ice Cream Cone - Softserve anywhere or Hard Ice Cream at a Mom & Pop place like JayGees in Dracut.
3. Going golfing. Spending the day being frustrated at how much I stink for 4 hours is awesome.
4. Seeing a summer movie.
5. Going to the park and reading my paper under a huge shade tree.

B. I would like to smell a cooking Thanksgiving Turkey. It is one of my favorite smells and I can't wait until I get to smell it again come November. That smell gets me excited to get out of bed.

We're taking bets that anything can be funny...

Here are a couple of random thoughts over the past week.

* Do bugs forget that they cannot fly low near highways? My car is starting to look like a bug graveyard. I am doing a lot more highway travelling and it seems like bugs have decided to make my car Dr. Kevorkian. Are they young bugs who are just flying by on a dare or is it old senile bugs who have forgotten the danger of speeding cars. Maybe it is a sign of something like a bad bug season or time for a bug guard on my car. It is just weird and very gross. Bug guts don't come off very easy.

* If you are looking to do something fun in your car next time you are stuck in traffic just watch the person behind you in the rear view mirror. I bet you that they will touch their nose at least once in a five minute span and they probably will run their hands through their hair. If you get real lucky you will see them pick their nose which is actually gross, but people never realize they are being watched. Remember though that you can't be a creepy stalker watching someone in your mirror. You have to sit way back in your seat and straight up. Then just casually look forward with your eyes looking in your mirror. It will look like you are looking straight ahead, but actually you are professionally stalking. See if it works. At worse you will catch them making some sort of crazy face. :)

We're taking bets that the Pope has a funny nickname...

Everyone has friends who have known you for a long time and have a nickname for you. It may not be that funny, but you have it. I have gotten GMad for many years though some who knew me many years ago know of the time I was called "Happy Shoes". (It is a long story that I may share some time.) It is my belief that Pope Benedict XVI has the same type of funny nickname. I mean his last name is Ratzinger. That alone is a funny name.

I would assume that Ratzie has be to on the top of the list. Though I think Zinger would probably be a good nickname if he was funny. Especially when he was making his famous "How many Cardinals does it take to screw in a light bulb?" jokes. Since he is such a hardliner I think that his detractors would call him "The Rat." What do you think his nicknames are amongst his buddies? Post your thoughts in the comments section. (Remember you don't have to register to post. Though leaving your name in the post is nice.)

WTBT Volume 10...

We're taking bets that...

* writing a new resume is a pain in the ass.
* Manny Rameriz is finally out of his slump and the rest of the American League should be very afraid.
* there might be no better random holiday than Patriot's Day in Massachusetts.
* the Yankees are really starting to look old.
* even your worse game of golf is better than being stuck inside on a cold rainy day.
* the black/white smoke of the Catholic conclave is a cool tradition.
* everyone needs a monkey.
* "Fore" is the scariest thing to hear on a golf course when you are not paying attention.
* it will be a shame if Arrested Development gets cancelled.
* the NFL Draft will be more exciting than last weekend's WNBA Draft.
* Revenge of the Sith will be the best Star Wars movie since Empire Strikes Back. No contest.
* it will be a shame if the Cleveland Cavaliers and Lebron James do not make the playoffs.
* Gwen Stefani's Hollaback is a great song mainly for the fact that she spells the word "BANANAS" in it.
* Dontrelle Willis of the Florida Marlins may look like a freak on the mound, but he is a great pitcher.
* I am way too trusting.
* there is nothing like the love of a dumb dog.
* George Steinbrenner finally awoke from his grave to give the Yankees a kick in the ass.
* if you want to see Dane Cook on June 17th at the Hampton Beach Casino with me contact me ASAP.
* Lance Armstrong's retirement is kind of disappointing. Don't you wish he was like the Energizer Bunny and kept going and going and going and going...
* you should go see The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy when it comes out on May 1st because this movie was long overdue to be made.
* there is something to be said about being charming.

We're taking bets that if it is over the fence it is probably a homer...

Yesterday was the first day of Wiffleball Season at Zabo Field at Phelan Yards in sunny Springfield, MA. The Road Team beat the Home Team 8-7 in 10 innings. It was a very exciting with Jared Bouzan collecting the win with a big strikeout to end the game.

Now seriously my friend Shaun has set up a very good Wiffleball field in his backyard. Probably to the chagrin of his wife Jill, but it is fun none the less. He even has an outfield net set-up so the cranky neighbor doesn't have balls flying at her house when homeruns are hit. Research has been done by visiting the NJWA. It is 42' from the pitcher's mound to the plate (Which is a plastic lawn chair) and dead center is 95' feet away. If you hit the chair in any place it is a strike... no arguments. 7 balls is a walk (Shaun "If I swing I might hit it" Phelan has specialized in walks) and if you catch the ball on the fly and there are men on base and you throw the ball in one motion after the catch and hit the home plate chair it is a double play. We are geeks and we know it. So if you have a team of 3 or more come down to Springfield and challenge us.

We're taking bets that I was gypped...

So I am a Roman Catholic. Nothing wrong with that and I consider myself to be a pretty good one. I go to church regularly and I believe in a lot of the teachings that I have learned. The Roman Catholic Church has a lot of problems, but I believe that we are going to make a comeback with the new pope.

With all of that said I was gipped this weekend at mass. I used to be a parishioner at St. Michael Church in Lowell, MA. It was one of the most welcoming places I have ever been. I enjoyed going even when it was extremely hot or I was dogged tired. I enjoyed the sermons by Father Mario and Father Capone (His first name is Al). They were usually poignant and made an impact on how I was living my life.

Now that I am in the WMass/Northern CT area I am going back to my childhood church St. Francis of Assisi in South Windsor. I received first communion and was confirmed here. Father Sherer was the first priest that I can remember and he will always have a strong influence on my life. Father Rohan was my second priest and made life somewhat miserable. He was an alcoholic who lapsed a couple of times while at St. Francis. Overall I enjoyed my experience until I was able to compare it with St. Michael.

The priest at St. Francis is relatively young and has been dealing with a major renovation project to double the size of the church. Over $2.4 million has been raised to get the project off the ground. It seems that just about each week we get some sort of an update. The problem is that this update comes during the homily portion of the mass. We then get a shortened or even no reflection on the gospel reading. This makes me very disappointed.

Imagine going to see U2. Bono came out on stage and told you he would be playing bass today, Edge would be playing drums, Adam would be playing guitar and Larry would be singing. It just isn't fulfilling. It would be like going to see Curt Schilling pitch and finding out that he was going to hit and be the third base coach instead. You would be kind of upset.

Today's reading was from John Chapter 10. I won't bore you with the details but it is a very powerful message. Unfortunately that message was glossed over with a one minute sidenote to 10 minutes of Church renovation talk. Am I wrong to be disappointed about this? I know that you need to make the most of your religious experiences and it is not up to the priest to interpret everything for you, but come on. I miss St. Michael's I guess. Well Bless you all and have a great Sunday and Patriots Day. (Holiday for Boston folk.)

We're taking bets that a single question can be more influential than a thousand statements...

Today's title was borrowed from a quote by Bo Bennett. In a new feature here at the WTBT Offices we are going to pose a question or two each week about various items. WTBT will answer the question and then hear what the readers have to say.

A. What are your top five "Get psyched" or "Pumped-Up" Songs?

B. If you were forced to eat one of these three things which would you eat and why?
- Your favorite soup with bugs in it
- Your favorite drink with half of it filled with a hairy guy's sweat
- Liver smothered in anchovies and haggis (sheep's heart, liver, and lungs, minced with onion, oatmeal, suet, spices & salt, mixed with stock & traditionally boiled in the animal's stomach for several hours. Traditional Scottish delicacy)

A. Top 5 Pump Up Songs

1. Lose Yourself - Eminem
2. We Will Rock You - Queen
3. Yeah - Usher feat. Lil Jon & Ludacris
4. Pour Some Sugar on Me - Def Leppard
5. Let Me Clear My Throat - DJ Kool

B. I would probably have the soup because we unknowingly eat bugs all of the time. Even if they were crunchy I could pretend they were oyster crackers in my Clam Chowda. Plus in Cub Scout Camp we ate Japanese Beetles fried in Butter as one of our Survival exercises. They tasted just like popcorn. :)

We're taking bets that chicken are people too...

I read this story today and was completely amazed. Who knew that to revive a chicken you whip them around by their feet. Maybe that is medical science that could be used on humans, but no one has tried. This is pretty amazing, because he has a flock of chickens. Why was that chicken so special to him? Maybe it reminded him of his first chicken or maybe that chicken looked like his first love and he just couldn't let him pass. Sadly it probably was because it wasn't fat enough to eat. So then next time you need to revive a friend you should try the whip them around by the feet technique. :)

We're taking bets that running with scissors is fun...

Here are a few random thoughts for the last few days...

* What constitutes running? I would say that just because your arms are moving in a running motion does not mean that you are running. There has to be some sort of speed occurring that is quicker than power walking. How fast should the normal human run 3MPH? 2MPH? For most of us it is probably 4MPH for only 10 minutes then 30 minutes of walking and heaving. Now that the weather is nicer I have seen many people "running" through the City of Springfield. What they are actually doing is walking like they have to take a dump. Their arms are flailing wildly and they are clenching their butt to keep from a premature dumping. If you want to run then look like, if not just walk.

* Sometimes it is hard to be funny. Once on Seinfeld George met a girl who thought she was funny and was worried that if she met Jerry that she would fall for him because he was funnier. Well the same thing can be said for blogging. I do consider myself to be rather funny. Maybe not on the level of Dane Cook or Jon Stewart, but funny none the less. Now my friend Ian is unintentionally upstaging me with his funny comments and I am stuck in a non-funny rut. He wrote a funny blog about needing his own montage. I even needed to resort to stealing one of his jokes for a previous blog. Hopefully I will get out of this funny rut and be that knee-slapping riot that everyone expects from me.

* Why has Paula Abdul started to act like Anna Nicole Smith? I fully expect her to show America her breasts on American Idol with pictures of Arsenio Hall covering her nipples. She has to be on some sort of drug. She loves everyone which is fine, but she is becoming increasingly creepier every episode. I thought she was going to jump over the table and make out with Nikko Smith a couple of weeks ago. Anytime you act like someone from the movie Half-Baked on TV it is time for professional help.

* Are there people that doing Acronyms for a living? Just recently we had over 10,000 arrests in a week across the United States as part of Operation F.A.L.C.O.N. F.A.L.C.O.N. is an acronym for "Federal and Local Cops Organized Nationally." I think it would be fun to make acronyms everyday. Do you think they work backwards or forward? Backwards would probably be easier. So if you know anyone who is hiring give me a call.

We're taking bets that the cotton in my ears is making it hard to hear...

So I have researched the use of headphones while driving. There are a child's handful of states where it is legal to wear both of your headphones while driving. Most other states it is not legal like Massachusetts. The argument is that you will not be able to hear emergency vehicles or other noises that would make it difficult to drive. This makes sense although I would argue that there are a ton of other things to distract you while driving.

Now for anyone who thinks, "What about deaf drivers?" there is a good answer. Hearing Impaired drivers tend to be safer than perfect hearing drivers. I would assume that this would be because they have learned to use their other four senses better than we have learned to use five senses. If you would like to read some debate about this subject click here.

As for me I am going to move to South Carolina. It is legal there and I would like to try it with both headphones on. The songs get all screwed up when I only use one headphone. I feel like I only hear half of the song. (Joke stolen from Ian Martin) :)

WTBT MOVIE QUOTES QUIZ

We love movies at the WTBT Offices. Here are a bunch of movie quotes. See if you can name the movie. For advanced movie buffs guess the actor and character name. Some of them will be easy and some will be hard. Post your answers in the comments section. Try not to cheat and I will post the answers on Friday.

1. "What if I'm looking for a bathroom, I can't find one... and my bladder explodes?"

2. "I'm very sorry the government taxes their tips, that's fucked up. That ain't my fault. It would seem to me that waitresses are one of the many groups the government fucks in the ass on a regular basis. Look, if you ask me to sign something that says the government shouldn't do that, I'll sign it, put it to a vote, I'll vote for it, but what I won't do is play ball. And as for this non-college bullshit I got two words for that: learn to fuckin' type, 'cause if you're expecting me to help out with the rent you're in for a big fuckin' surprise. "

3. "This place has a sign hangin' over the urinal that says, "Don't eat the big white mint". "

4. "Oh I'm sorry, am I being a little graphic? I'm sorry. Well, I hope you're up for a little competition. She's got a power tool in the bedroom, dear. It's her own personal jackhammer. She could break sidewalk with that thing. She uses it and the lights dim, it's like a prison movie. Amazed she hasn't chipped her teeth."

5. Breakfast, shmreakfast. Look at the score, for Christ's sake. It's only the second period and I'm up 12 to 2. Breakfasts come and go, Rene, but Hartford, "the Whale," they only beat Vancouver once, maybe twice in a lifetime.

6. "Oh man, I can't fucking believe this. Another basement, another elevator. How can the same thing happen to the same guy twice?"

7. "Okay, well, uh... candlesticks always make a nice gift, and uh, maybe you could find out where she's registered and maybe a place-setting or maybe a silverware pattern. Okay, let's get two! Go get 'em."

8. "What is that supposed to mean? I am so sick of that. All that means is that it wasn't personal to you. But it was personal to me. It's *personal* to a lot of people. And what's so wrong with being personal, anyway?"

9. "My little brother got his arm stuck in the microwave. So my mom had to take him to the hospital. My grandma dropped acid this morning, and she freaked out. She hijacked a busload of penguins. So it's sort of a family crisis. Bye!"

10. "Looks like Chuck's taking the one eyed monster to the optometrist."

We're taking bets that we are surrounded by Indians...

In the joke as they were trapped on cliff by Indians, Tonto replied to Lone Ranger, "What do you mean we?" I thought that was a good opening for a blog and this was a good place for it. I try to stay out of the political realm in this blog, but I read an article today about someone I have a great deal of respect. He is an economics professor from WNEC and his parents were the Rosenbergs. (They were killed by the US Government in the 50's for being traitors.) The article mainly deals with Social Security and I believe that this is the one issue that from young to old people we should be concerned about as Americans. Read the article (and others), form an opinion and tell me which side you are on.

WTBT Volume Nine...

We're taking bets that...

* David Wells isn't really loving Boston quiet yet.
* protesting is okay as long as Anna Nicole is going to be safe.
* Tiger is back and everyone in the PGA should be very afraid. Second place is going to become the new first place for everyone but him.
* Eva Longoria is now a Las Vegas Pussycat. Nothing to say really just ponder that. :)
* David Ortiz will be the MVP of the American League.
* I didn't think that there was still real life West Side Story's. Until now.
* North Carolina's Sean May should stay for his senior year.
* it is a shame that Boston Legal has been bumped by Grey's Anatomy, but at least they will show 27 episodes next season.
* although he is a Yankee it was tough to see Carl Pavano get beaned by a comebacker.
* it is a great time of year for wiffleball and golf.
* you can't believe Paige Davis is no longer the host of TLC's Trading Spaces.
* love him or hate him Jeff Gordon is still the best NASCAR driver around.
* just because you don't think something isn't funny doesn't mean it isn't. It may just mean that you have no sense of humor.
* football is a rough sport, but it scares you when anyone dies while playing.
* if you live in the Northeast you hope this storm misses us.
* you are looking forward to the NFL draft for no reason other than it gets you excited about the upcoming football season.
* the new Britney & Kevin Spears-Federline show is going to be like a car accident... you will come out of the bushes to watch it.
* thankfully Bo does not know steriods. Shame on the paper for erroneous reporting.
* if you watch The Apprentice you are not shocked by Chris's recent arrest.

We're taking bets that you better bring your "A" game...

Where was I when they were passing out pamphlets on flirting to guys? I think that I need a Special Ed. class to learn how to flirt. Even innocent flirting passes me by. Just the other day I was at the gas station and there was two flirting opportunities and both times I walked away thinking that was an odd conversation. It wasn't until a half hour later that I realized that the flirting game was being played and I came with the wrong equipment. Like a basketball player showing up in cleats or a tennis player showing up with golf clubs.

It is a wonder that I have ever been in any relationships. In almost every relationship that I have been in there has been a point where the female would say I was flirting with you but I never thought you were interested. Maybe colleges and universities should have flirting classes for men. I think that women are at a distinct advantage because straight men need women, but not really the other way around. So women can act anyway they want and it is okay. Guys do that and there is a high potential for a restraining order. So guys the next time you hear on the radio about a club and that guys should bring their "A" game remember there are only so many Joey Martinez's(Love ya Joey) out there. You probably don't have an "A" game. Hopefully a "B" or "C" game will do the trick. Worst yet try to be yourself though I am not sure that the "Idiot" game will work. :)

We're taking bets that there are questions to be answered...

In a new feature here at the WTBT Offices we are going to pose a question or two each week about various items. WTBT will answer the question and then hear what the readers have to say.

A. What are the top five movies that if you see them on television you will stop what you are doing and watch them?

B. If Fozie Bear and the Cookie Monster got into a fight who would win and why?

Answers by WTBT Staff:

A. 1. Shawshank Redemption (Find a better movie from the 90's I dare you).
2. Say Anything (Best Teen/Romantic Movie Ever - No arguements just agree.)
3. The Godfather (It may be cliche, but the greatest movie ever made will always get me to watch it.
Spike TV should show it 20 hours a day and 4 episodes of CSI)
4. Serendipity (I am a big John Cusak fan and this brought him back to his roots as a romantic lead actor)
5. (tied)Caddyshack/Tommy Boy (Such great movies with so many quotes and laughs)

B. Cookie Monster of course. I mean he is a monster and Fozie wears a tie and a hat. Definitely kind of wimpy. Heck I don't think Fozie could even take Bert and he has the floppy arms. C is for Cookie and it is also for Come and get your whooping. :)

We're taking bets that this is funny...

I am stealing this link from Gigglechick.com. It is a riot. I think that a "Randon but Understandable Breakdown" is perhaps the funniest. I hope you enjoy it. Funny Brawny Man

We're taking bets that negativity will get you in trouble...

I currently am working with a disgruntled co-worker. I will not disclose her name because no knows her except for my boss and he already knows this story. Most people know that I have a ton of patience. I can hold my tongue when it is not my place for the most part. Constant negativity gets me down though.

Our department has implemented a new computer system. It was rushed out to appease some higher ups in the city and we have had a few bugs. We have worked hard to fix any problems and the system is 1,000,000 times better than the old system. Well my co-worker hates it because for the first time in her life she has to do some work. Gone are the days of sleeping on the boss' desk when they were gone. So whenever there is any problems with the computer system she bitches and complains. Usually there is some sort of storming out of the room to go to the bathroom. Today I had finally had it.

I went to help her after she had stormed out and interrupted a discussion I was having with Mr. Rabbitt(yes it is 2 B's & 2 T's). When she came back to her desk I could not figure out what her issue was because the system was running flawlessly. She then started lashing out that whenever she needs help there is noone to help her and that people keep walking away from her. She then trashed the system. My blood started to boil but I was keeping my cool when she turned her mustached venom towards me. I definitely do not reach kindly to being yelled at when I have been as nice as pie. Plus I have been extremely nice and baked brownies for the ladies and done a ton of other nice things. I started to see a flashback to December and a certain conversation about RA programming that a few of you happened to be privy to.

Anyway, all bets were off. No more Mr. Nice Greg. Since she had raised her voice, I raised my tone as well. Then out of nowhere my Boss appeared(He may have run from the back when he heard the commotion) to save her. He talked her down off of the ledge that she was on. (I was going to push her off.) Although I think just realized she couldn't win.

I understand that people can be intimidated by new people and change. I understand that as well as anyone and have tried to be nice. She has pushed my final nerve. There will be no saving next time because I will be as Open, Honest and Direct as I have to be. :)

I hope she is in a better mood soon because there is a New Sheriff in Town. It is a whole new world in the City of Springfield. :)

We're taking bets that random thoughts are fun...

Here are a few random thoughts for the last few days...

- It seems that more people smoke in Western Mass. than near Boston. I wonder why that is? The amount of people that I notice smoking in their cars in this area is incredible. Could it be that Eastern Mass has realized that smoking kills and the literature just hasn't gone past Worcester?

- Congrats to Baylor and North Carolina on winning NCAA basketball Championships. Both teams showed that hard work pays off. North Carolina stunk 4 years ago and Baylor was on NCAA probation in 2000. New coaches and a new work ethic made them Champions. Maybe someday the Celtics will be like that again.

- If you work in a Auto Parts Store and do not wear a hat is it a requirement that you have funky hair? I have stopped by three different Auto Parts Stores in the lastt couple of months and everyone that wasn't wearing a hat had some weird haircut. It ranged from a bad mullet(yes there is a good mullet) to a jericurl. I understand the customers having weird hairdos. Especially the ones that kind of hang around for fun, but the employees. I think it should be a rule that everyone(Even the women) working at an Auto Parts Store should wear a hat.

- What is happening at Harvard? Now a Economics professor is cut stealing shit. Then he tried to bribe the guy who caught him. The manure costs $35 a truckload and he offered $40. He must not be a very good economics professor because $40 is not a very good bribe. Basic economics would have taught him to bribe much more than that. At least $50.

- If you are bored on a Sunday night you need to watch Arrested Development on Fox. It is consistently the funniest TV show there is. It is about a dysfunctional rich family that cannot keep out of trouble. It also has David Cross (he plays Tobias)who is an absolute riot. My mother would call this show absurd and I think that might be the most important reason to watch it. :)

WTBT Volume 8

We're taking bets that...
* a lot of New Englanders would be in trouble if this were a law around here.
* the Yankees can sweep this opening series and Red Sox fans really won't care because we are the reigning World Champions.
* Sin City was definitely worth it the money.
* the Celtics are going through their annual collapse a little later than usual this year.
* old retired men have the best conspiracy theories.
* it has been an awesome NCAA tournament so far and tonight's game should be a masterpiece.
* only once in a blue moon do I use a word correctly and my friends do not. (The word was "innocuous".)
* if you follow the TV shows 24 & Lost this is the week you can't miss.
* other than people in Connecticut and Tennessee the Women's College Basketball world is happy that neither team is in the championship game.
* things seem to work themselves out even if it doesn't seem so in the beginning.
* the first no-name player is taking one for the team on the baseball steroids issue.
* Fever Pitch won't be that popular in New York or New Jersey.
* The Master's will be riveting this year with Tiger Woods winning another green jacket.
* if you live in Springfield you are hoping this happens.
* you can't believe that the MLS has been around for ten years.
* office politics suck.
* many of us missed out on the 1 out of 5 fourteen year olds having oral sex.
* April Fools Day is kind of boring when you get older.
* the baseball season started with the Cubs Mark Prior and the Yankees Kevin Brown on the DL and no one was the least bit surprised.
* it is good to be charming.
* you were not shocked that American Idols' Scott Savol had a restraining order against him.
* playing fantasy baseball with friends is fun as long as people realize I am going to win. :)

We're taking bets that it is time to pray...

Now that Pope John Paul has passed away it is time for Roman Catholics to pray for positive change. We need to move our rules more in line with the rest of the world. I am not asking for a completely liberal Pope, but rather one that sees that in order for Catholism to survive we need to move to the 21st century.

I have three items that I hope a new Pope will install in the Catholic Church.

1. Priests being able to marry.
2. A Friendlier Mass where people can enjoy church not only for spiritual enlightenment, but also that we can say I had a good time at mass.
3. Recruitment of Younger Priest who realize that our youth need guidance not just through words, but actions as positive (non-abusing) role models.

This could be a very trying time for the Catholic Church. I enjoy being a Catholic even though I don't agree with all of the things that they say. The new generation of Catholics need to set-up and bring us into the 21st Century. I hope it starts with our Pope.

We're taking bets that I have a question today...

In a new feature here at the WTBT Offices we are going to pose a question or two each week about various items. WTBT will answer the question and then hear what the readers have to say.

A. What are the 5 songs that you will never change the car radio if you hear them or will stay in the car to hear the end?

B. If you had the chance would you sleep with a gorgeous celebrity(ex. Brad Pitt or Jennifer Garner), but the sex would be awful or would you sleep with an unattractive celebrity(ex. Rosie O'Donnell or Michael Jackson) and the sex would be great?

WTBT Answers
A.
1. Def Leppard - Pour Some Sugar on Me
2. Rob Base - It Takes Two
3. Eurythmics - Sweet Dreams
4. Do Me - Bell Biv Devoe
5. One Night in Bangkok - Head Murray? (Not sure if this is the right artist)

B. Hey looks aren't everything and there isn't too many cures for bad sex so I would take the uggo. I mean they are still a celebrity right. :)

We're taking bets that it is hard to say sorry and more...

Here are a few random thoughts for the last few days...

* I need to apologize to Sprint PCS and the Sprint guy with the bus. They finally had a commercial that actually made me want to buy their phones. (I'm not going to, but I would consider them now.) It is the true to life 20 minutes about my mother's cat commercial. I would argue that conversation would make most people want to get off the phone as soon as possible whether you were out of minutes or not. Plus the guy has the perfect voice to emphasize the ridiculousness of cats, er I mean his mother. Definitely a laugh out loud commercial.

* Jose Canseco is really enhancing his 15 minutes of steriod fame with an appearence on the next Surreal Life. Maybe he will hook-up with Omarosa. Too bad they couldn't get Mark McGwire to appear on the show with him. It would be riveting television watching Mark plot Jose's murder with secret phone calls to Sammy Sosa.

* It seems that we have forgotten what Rest in Peace means. It is my hope that Terri Schiavo is going to be argued about for the next 12 months. Media coverage has been sickening enough as it is. I would even rather day to day info about Britney's supposed alien pregnancy than more stuff about a woman that has suffered enough.

* Giving birth is hard enough, but having to do it in a car and then drive to the hospital yourself takes the cake. Oh but wait the police are pulling you over at gunpoint. Ummm has this lady ever heard of an ambulance or the police. Pretty courageous, but at the same time there are some serious issues here.

* Not to say McDonald's has this much power, but is it a coincidence that Josh McRoberts won the MVP at the McDonald's High School All-Star Game. I am sure that Ronald is smiling his McAss off. :)

* If you do not watch the TV shows Lost and 24 you are really missing riveting television. It has been many years since I watched a TV show and actually said "Holy Shit!!! I can't believe that happened!!!" I did that each day this week and I heard 24's show this week is going to be even crazier.

We're taking bets that if I could hit her one more time I would...

Britney Spears has officially deteriorated to the most spoiled white trash person on the planet. I know you are probably thinking, "What about Paris Hilton?" Well yes she is as white trash as one of the people interviewed on TV after a hurricane, but not as bad as Britney. Britney is a complete freak.

She married Kevin Federline, who spends more time in his underwear than Jenna Jameson does naked. He is going to ride her coattails and fade into the sunset like J. Lo's ex-Chris Judd. They have become the King & Queen of white trash. Although he is much like Queen Elizabeth's husband was... just there to look pretty and dance.

Now she was quoted in Allure magazine talking about marriage.

"Everyone thinks you get married, and that's it, but you're still going to fight. You're still going to get mad and say, 'Pick up your damn shirt'. It's just that young thing of you know, 'Where do you want to eat tonight? Who's going to cook?' It becomes this whole thing of figuring each other out in the house. Before we got married, we were on tour, and we were just like kids, ordering room service, saying, 'Let's go out tonight'. And then all of a sudden you get home and you have the kids, you have the diapers, get the dogs to the vet. It's this whole reality, you know."Of course, Spears, unlike most newlyweds, can pay someone to take care of all that reality stuff ("Oh, I do," she says," but I like to be involved with it too.")

Why is she still talking like a ten year old? What gets me is that she says that she "has the kids" even though they are her husband's kids whom he left when the mother was 8 months pregnant with the second child. Plus you know that she isn't involved in the getting the diapers or taking the dog to the vet. I bet that she just buys a new dog instead of taking it to the vet and she lets Kevin shoot firecrackers at the sick dog.

Why is it that most teen stars have become creepy stars in their twenties? Christina became "Dirty", Lindsay hasn't even reached her twenties and she is sluttier than a dog in heat, and you know that Hilary Duff has something in her closet when she turns 21. Thank God for my favorite pop star Kelly Clarkson. She has shaken off that wholesome image and become a little edgier. Plus she is wicked hot. I can even forgive her for From Justin to Kelly.

Mine are Britney Spears, Lindsay Lohan, Paris Hilton, Tara Reid and Kevin Federline. The five of them could keep comedians like Jeff Foxworthy and Larry the Cable Guy in business for years. Imagine the jokes... Kevin Federline is so white trash he calls Britney "Dude" - Britney Spears is so white trash that if she offered you the shirt off her back you would say no thank you and give her a blanket to cover up.

I am just curious who are your top 5 White Trash people?

We're taking bets that women can be evil...

Holy Crap!!! I never intended to watch the Bachelor last night, but I did because of all the crazy women. First off the Bachelor is Charlie O'Connell who is a creepier version of his brother Jerry. He has one of those butt chins which are very unfortunate. The women think he is very attractive and they are all fighting for his affections.

They changed the rules this year. Which I didn't know having never watched but it definitely made it interesting. Some of the women stripped to their underwear and at least one of them made out with him in their initial meeting. They fought to go on "dates", called each other sluts and broke every rule they could. One lady dropped out because she was uncomfortable and then came back for the "Rose Ceremony" where she was attacked by the other women. The "Rose Ceremony" is where most of the fireworks are and I think they will be attacking each other each week.

Have all the shows been like this? It is a shame women have to fight like this over guys. The worst part is that it almost never works out. I am not sure if I will watch again since it is on during 24, but it definitely made for an interesting second option. Anyone else see this show? If you did tell me what you thought.

WTBT Volume Seven

We're taking bets that...

* if you didn't watch NCAA basketball this weekend you missed some of the best basketball in years.
* you are tired of the NASINEX bee and his sexy Spanish accent.
* the LA Lakers will finish below the LA Clippers this year.
* you have to be careful if you are the Easter Bunny.
* you can't believe the baseball season is already here.
* John Travolta should have never made Be Cool but at least it was better than Battleship Earth.
* it doesn't matter that she coached women Pat Summitt might be the best college coach ever.
* sometimes priest should just retire. Especially if it takes them more than one minute to find where they are during the service.
* the Yankees should shake hands with the Red Sox next week because it is the closest they are going to get to being champions.
* you can't wait for Dane Cook's new CD.
* it is a very rare season when the Hockey East is not in the Frozen Four.
* Ashton Kutcher was not that funny on SNL last week.
* Christina Milan is wicked hot and she is the only reason to see Be Cool.
* even if you tried you couldn't make this shot in 20 tries.
* you are so glad we are changing the clocks next weekend. Hopefully it will stop further snowstorms.

We're taking bets that Hottie of the Week...

Hottie Marisa Tomei. Can't believe she won an Oscar. She is currently part of the new Hanes commercial campaign. Hopefully she will make a Teri Hatcher like comeback and be part of the new older hotties.

We're taking bets that there is nothing like city living...

I have moved to the farthest planet from the sun. Well not really, but the suburbs feel like that a little bit to me. Have you ever tried to find an Auto Parts Store open after 7pm in the Suburbs? It is practically impossible not only to find one open, but to even find one period. I guess since the middle class have good cars they don't fix their own.

The Suburbs after 7 pm can be a little bit like a morgue at night... dark, deserted and creepy. Who needs tampons and enemas at 3 am? Well I am not really sure, but I sure would like the option. I guess 13 years of city living have made me a little dependant on late-night services. Thankfully I am moving back to a city by August.

We're taking bets that it was a rickety van...

I am currently working on a project at work involving vehicles. All of the vehicles in Facilities Mgmt need some sort of work on them. At a minimum they need new inspection stickers. So I drove one of the box trucks(Think U-Haul truck) to Springfield Lincoln Mecury for an inspection sticker.

Upon entering the vehicle that isn't used in the winter months by the Glaziers I found out that the seatbelt did not work. That should have been my first sign to leave the truck where it was. The truck shuttered when it started and after warming up for about ten minutes had trouble getting over the 1 inch by 2 inch patch of ice that was in front of the truck. I floored it and it went over the ice at about 3 miles an hour. I then pushed on the gas and got the truck to go 5 miles an hour to the front gate. I waited until there was absolutely no cars coming in either direction and headed onto the street. I got the car to go to 20 miles an hour and came to a red light. The breaks didn't work so well. After slamming them to the floor the truck stopped just before the middle of the intersection.

Did I mention that I needed to go 7 more miles? I got the truck to go a maximum of 35 miles per hour and left myself 500 yards before every time I had to stop. The truck also liked to shake while it idled like a vibrating bed in a cheesy motel. Luckily I made it to the Service Center and told Big Mike (Not really his nickname, but that's what I like to call him) that he needs to do some major work or invite me back to take a sledgehammer to it. I risk my life everyday for the City of Springfield. Isn't it great I left Lowell? :)

I hopefully made a couple of you laugh with this story.

We're taking bets that the water is too cold to go in...

CBS is the #1 station in America right now. With that said do they believe that we will watch any crap that we put on? Sunday night they played Spring Break Shark Attack. They promoed the hell out of it during basketball coverage and the big ploy was that Shannon Lucio of "The OC" was in it. I am pretty sure that is not a good thing.

Did anyone watch it? How the hell did imdb users rate it 7.1? Did 9 computer geeks watch it and see cleavage for the first times in their lives? Were they crazy sharks attracted to No-Ad suntan oil? Could they smell the testosterone in the water and therefore easily attack innocent males? If you see 50+ sharks in the water don't you think it is time to get out?

Remember back when made for TV movies were about popular TV teens at camp getting into trouble. Are those shows only on Disney Channel anymore? I bet there was not one awkward moment with a nerdy kid. I bet that you didn't almost see boobies of the beautiful blond. I say that we need to bring back fun made for TV movies with Chad Michael Murray and Rachel Bilson as camp counselors. That would get people watching. Not killer sharks attacking Spring Breakers. Unless they killed Mischa Barton and Hilary Duff because they really bug me.

We're taking bets that Hottie of the Week...

Mary McCormack of the West Wing. She was Howard Stern's wife in Private Parts. She is extremely underrated and very beautiful.

WTBT Volume 6...

We're taking bets that...

* it is important to have stamina.
* you never thought the West Virginia/Wake Forest game was never going to end.
* Sin City might be the best movie of the Spring.
* UW-Milwaukee might actually beat Illinois on Thursday.
* flaming cow dung can be dangerous.
* the Lakers will not make the NBA playoffs.
* if you don't watch Boston Legal you are really missing excellent Television.
* even though the Lebron James Powerade commercial isn't real it looks real cool.
* although no one is watching The Contender is actually a pretty tv show.
* Mark McGwire looked like a fool at the Senate hearings.
* UCONN was not ready to defend the national championship today.
* the Ring 2 wasn't as good as the first. Yeah right, like I would know I couldn't watch 5 minutes of the first one.
* it is a shame that the DeLorean wasn't a more popular car. It did look cool in back to the future.
* Lebron James may end his career as the best basketball player ever.
* after seeing the new trailer Star Wars is going to be kick ass.
* the Boston Celtics may make the most noise out of the Eastern Conference in the playoffs.
* you missed this website while I was gone. Even the people who say they don't read it. :)

We're taking bets that sometimes it sucks to be me...

Two plane trips... twice my luggage was lost. It seems like something that could only happen to me. I seem to live under some sort of unlucky star. Now that I am back from vacation hopefully I will turn it around.

Monday, March 14, 2005

We're taking bets that I am a lot like a Focker...

I am currently in Miami with out any luggage except what I carried on and that isn't much. This has definitely put a killing to any plans that I may have had. I broke the rule that you should always pack at least one change of clothes in your carry on luggage. Stupid USAirways. They left the bag(along with 30 others) in Philadelphia and did not load it on the plane to Fort Lauderdale. Now it is "Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego" with my luggage. At least I got them to pay for my ride to Miami. I now am going to walk around Miami looking for some new clothes. At least I am on vacation and it is 80 degrees here. :)

We're taking bets that Hottie of the Week...

Wow!!! Jessica has three great movies coming out in the next three months. She looks wicked hot in each and every one of them. She actually can act and is much more than just a pretty face. Let us not forget how incredible she was in "Honey". Yes I watched it and so should you.
