We're taking bets that we will always have St. Louis...

Theo Epstein decided to not return as the General Manager of the Boston Red Sox today. :( He helped to bring a World Series Championship to Boston for the first time in 86 years. He will always be in high regard with Red Sox fans no matter what he does next.

With that being said I think he sold his soul to the devil for a championship. This is one of the statements he made, "“In my time as general manager, I gave my entire heart and soul to the organization." I think that means he sold it to the devil. Why do you think he is resigning on Halloween? Do you really think that is a coincidence? Just wondering.

We're taking bets that you were amazed by Tedy Bruschi...

Tonight I watched Tedy Bruschi lead the New England Patriots over the Buffalo Bills. To be quite honest Tedy didn't do all that much except play a normal game for him. He was definitely the reason they won though. The funny thing is there was absolutely no doubt in my mind that they weren't going to pull through. Tedy is one of those unique individuals who makes everyone around him better. He is what a leader is all about.

For those of you who don't know he had a stroke only 10 days after winning his third Super Bowl ring with the Patriots. He was told that he would not play this season on July 22nd. Less than eight months after a mild stroke he was cleared to play professional football. His presence on the football field make the Patriots a World Champion caliber football team if only for the leadership he brings. I will never forget seeing him play with his kids on the field before Super Bowl XXXIX. He is someone I will root for forever. Thank you Tedy Bruschi for inspiring me and hopefully millions of others.

We're taking bets that I am a thief...

Here are a couple of random observations I have had over the last couple of days.

* Any kid under the age of 9 has difficulty walking in a straight line. I was grocery shopping today and I felt like one I was in Q-bert trying to avoiding Ugg, Wrong Way and Coily. I had to jump back and forth through the aisles to avoid colliding with little kids. Most of the times it was because they were studying the cereal boxes, types of fruit roll-ups or imagining what it would be like to eat all of the cookies in the package they were staring at. Then the parents would call them and they would jump out of their trance and into my path. It was amazing at their ability to react to their name and walk diagonally.

* Being involved in a scavenger hunt should be a good enough excuse to allow you to break any laws except murder and manslaughter. Stealing, speeding, trespassing and reckless parking are all apart of the game. Who the fuck cares if you are going to hold up traffic? You need a picture of that statue and some gum from under that bench. Having watched 13 teams of 4 steal lawn signs without a second thought just makes me laugh. "It's okay officer I am on a scavenger hunt." "Oh okay let me run the lights and you can follow me to the next place." :)

* I don't know why, but I was not the least bit shocked that Mr. Sulu is gay. I mean did you see him in any of the Star Trek movies. He never did anything that was ever considered manly. Good for him, but really does anyone really care that a 68 year old man is gay?

* Lucy Lawless should have disappeared after Xena was over. That was the pinnacle of her career. I am sorry that is sad to say, but it is absolutely true. Now she is in her second CBS "movie event" Vampire Bats. Like her first CBS "movie event" Locusts wasn't enough they had to bring her back. In the same character no less. CBS is cornering the market on stupid movies involving college students as they had the great Spring Break Shark Attack. (Great review by Micah.) I think her and Peta Wilson should have a fight over the most wasted late nineties talent and the winner would agree never to appear on TV again, while the winner will at least be guarenteed spots on VH-1 Best Week Ever shows twice a year. Just a thought.

* I think I accidentally stole something today. I put a 2.5 gallon bottle of water on the bottom of my cart and went about my shopping experience. I don't ever remember putting it on the conveyor and it wasn't on my receipt, but it was in the main area of my cart after the bagger loaded my cart. Since he took the time to move it is he to blame or is it still my fault? Should I have gone back and paid for it since there was a long line and it would have taken at least another 15 minutes out of my life. Maybe it is God's way of letting me get even with corporate America over something they probably did to me. (See what I did there I invoked God's name to make it okay to steal.) Sadly this is not the first time in my life this has happened and it definitely won't be the last. Deep down maybe I am a klepto and I just didn't know it.

* Cheney's ex-aide Libby is coming up with the best legal defense ever. "I am busy and can't remember what we said then." This could be ground breaking. "Did I kill him? I don't remember, I was busy." Maybe he really was in a scavenger hunt. I think that defense would work. :)

We're taking bets that Hottie of the Week...

Hottie Allison Munn is probably best remembered as being Fez's Crazy Girlfriend Caroline on That 70's Show. She also has been in What I Like About You with another Hottie of the Week Amanda Bynes. She is currently has a very small part in Elizabethtown and one of the people on the new I Love the 80's 3D on VH1. I think she deserves some props because no matter what haircut or color she has she is still hot.

We're taking bets I wish this lady was my grandmother...

Everyone who knows me understands how much I loved and cherished my crazy grandmother. Now that she has passed and I am grandmotherless, I am in the market for a new one. (My other grandmother died before I was born.) I am putting my vote for Frances Crowe. Who is Frances Crowe you say. Well here is a little story about her.

She hitchhikes everywhere. She's been doing it in one form or another for over 50 years. Is that the craziest thing in the world? "Where's grandma today?" "Oh you know her and hitchhikers. She'll be back after she kills them." Frances Crowe is my new hero. I would pick her up on the side of the road in a second. There could be a spin off the AARP. They could have a catchy slogan like "Have you given an old person a ride today?" or "The Ride of Your Life: Hitchhiking Old People" The possibilities are endless. I for one am going to check out DigiHike. Maybe then next time you read this I will be in Guam. Thankfully I have both my thumbs. :)

We're taking bets that you'd be lying if you said you didn't like them...

Thursday Fun Time!!! Here are a few great questions for the readers of WTBT. Remember invite others to read and answer. Post your answers in the comments section. You can be anonymous and you only have to answer the questions you want. Maybe some of the Shawnee Smith fans will post some answers.

A. Which band did you like more in their heydays? Hootie & the Blowfish, Huey Lewis and the News, or Toad the Wet Sprocket.

B. Would you feel more uncomfortable if a stranger touched you on your cheek, your bottom or your feet? Why?

C. After watching Bands Reunited Berlin on VH-1 I was wondering what THREE bands you would like to see get back together and perform?

Answers:

A. I love Toad the Wet Sprocket to this day and I think their music has held up the best. Hootie was more of a Teri/Liz and Dennis band. I was always surprised how much Dennis actually liked them. Granted it did not eclipse his Counting Crows obsession. Did you hear they are coming out with a new CD? Man, I must have hear that 1 million times. I would have to go with Huey Lewis. First of all does anyone out there even know one person named Huey? I mean besides him and the duck I don't think that there is anyone else. The music was classic and they had real fun videos. I guess I was just a little too hip to be square. :)

B. This is actually a very easy question for me. Any time someone wants to touch my feet they can go right ahead. Whether it is massaging me or to try on shoes my feet can be touched by just about anyone. Since I am a "no butt" person it doesn't really matter to me if I get pinched or anything. It has happened before and it isn't that uncomfortable. Although that freak girl from AIC who used to hit people like her hand was a paddle was uncomfortable. I think that was truly the only time I ever got mad at someone at AIC. I do feel weird when people want to touch my cheek. There is no reason for you to touch my face. (Said like Dane Cook) Stay away from my cheek please. Your hands are greasy and I don't like it.

C. This was a toss up question for me. I miss both the Gin Blossoms and Candlebox. Both released awesome debut albums and never released any other good music. Sadly the Gin Blossoms just broke up. I think they would be a great band to see one more time.

We're taking bets that Sheryl Swoopes is Rosa Parks for the new millenium...

It has finally happened. A major professional athlete has come out of the closet and is proud to be gay. Thank God for Sheryl Swoopes. Being a dreaded Massachusetts liberal I am sure that no one is surprised I am happy by this. I do think that this is a great thing and I am glad that she finally was brave enough to come out. Now when will this happen in a men's sport.

Most of you are probably saying that it will never happen. Sadly, I believe that it might not happen in my lifetime and I plan on living at least another 60 years. We know that at least 1 in 10 people are gay. That means approximately 60 baseball players, 30 men's basketball players, 120 football players and every male figure skater is gay. (Okay that last one was a joke and here is the article to prove it.) It is sad that males consider themselves so much better than women in so many things, but it is much easier to come out as a lesbian than it is a gay male. I do hope one day a prominent male athlete comes out and allows all of the gay men that already admire him have one more thing to look up to him for. I for one am voting for Derek Jeter. I mean come on that guy is still single? What is the deal with that?

We're taking bets bravery comes in many forms...

Most people will remember that Rosa Parks as one of the icons of the civil rights movement in the 50's and 60's. Although it was really a minor act of bravery most of us would not have the courage to do what she did in 1956. She sat down in a white person's section of the bus. It sounds so ridiculous to hear even today. I know that racism and bigotry happens in all shapes and sizes even today. I went to a Big Y in Springfield and a man was outside trying to get people to sign his petition so that there would be a vote in Massachusetts regarding gay marriage. I am pretty sure that he was against gay marriage and probably was as bigoted as they come. I was proud of myself, when I told him that I was in favor of the current policy in Massachusetts and hoped it stayed that way. My bravery was definitely smaller than Rosa Parks, but I would never had said that 10 years ago. Probably not even five years ago. Maybe by the time I reach Rosa's age of 42 I will be as brave as she was then.

A few years ago the movie Barbershop came out and there was a lot of controversy regarding some statements made about Rosa Parks and others. The character Eddie said, "There are three things that Black people need to tell the truth about. Number one: Rodney King should've gotten his ass beat for being drunk in a Honda a white part of Los Angeles. Number two: O.J. did it! And number three: Rosa Parks didn't do nuthin' but sit her Black ass down!" People were upset because they said it was tainting the act that she did. I actually applauded the movie for keeping that part. It allowed thousands and maybe even millions of Americans to look at Rosa Parks again and realize how great a thing she did. Maybe Eddie was right and all she did was sit down, but she sat down with a purpose. She probably never intended on being a civil rights icon, but there she was. For the past 49 years she has shown that bravery comes in many forms and you need to find it in yourself to be brave everyday and stand up for injustice. Injustice is a part of our every day society and we need more people like Rosa Parks to make the United States a better place.

We're taking bets that Shawnee Smith is my new favorite...

Alright so my site traffic has been up despite the fact that I don't have the repeat business that I used to have. Why is that you may ask? Shawnee Smith. She was a Hottie of the Week and is going to be in the new movie Saw 2.(Which may have one of the grossest movie posters I have ever seen.) She was in the original as one of the only survivors of the killer. Now she is back for another turn. Although I cannot stomach horror movies I do like it when a character repeats from one movie to another. Probably why I thought the Scream movies were not so bad. Thank you Shawnee for all your hard work. You are a babe whose does not have enough pictures on the internet so people have to come visit me. I just hope it leads to more people reading my stuff. Here's another picture to please the masses. :)

We're taking bets that I wish it were true...

Alright so I have no idea what any of this means, but it seems relevant to tell everyone about it. If this could translate to real dollars I would be selling right now and starting anew. :) Check for yourself, if you have a blog.

My blog is worth $7,339.02.

We're taking bets that Hottie of the Week...

Hottie Kelly Rutherford is on NBC's new show E-Ring. Since she is hot and the show is not; I thought I would give her a little bit of positive press. You may remember her as the prostitute from Melrose Place. She is a very pretty actress who has not made some great career decisions. Hopefully she will find a Desperate Housewives role someday that will make her a household name.

We're taking bets that everyone does stupid stuff...

Hello everybody!!! I hope that everyone is doing well. Question time again at WTBT and I hope everyone participates. Put your answers in the comments section. Have fun!!!

A. What is the dumbest thing you've ever done to get out of doing something?

B. If you could choose one movie that you relate to most what would it be and why?

Answers:

A. I hid behind the couch in my parent's living room for two days during my junior year of high school to avoid making a presentation. I was very shy and public speaking terrified me at the time. It worked well because I only needed to be back there for a couple of hours until my mother went to work. I never did make that presentation.

B. I think that I relate most to ANGUS. It sounds kind of funny, but I am a big guy who is considered by most to be a nice guy. I tend to be shy when I am in most social situations. A lot of people know me, but I would still get picked on by the most popular people. Hopefully in the end I will win out like Angus did.

We're taking bets that Romney dropped the ball again...

Massachusetts has had a rough week. Although it was nothing compared to the devastation of Hurricane Katrina or Rita it has been pretty bad. Governor Mitt "I only care about being President" Romney waited until 3/4 of the state was in dire need before declaring a state of emergency. He failed to even stop and see the destruction in Western Mass. because we don't really count like Boston does. It was up to Mayor Charlie Ryan to try and help Springfield.

Mitt Romney has been an absolute disgrace. He has seemed to forget that the Commonwealth of Massachusetts consists of four main areas: Eastern Mass., Central Mass., the Cape and the Islands, and Western Mass. Why is this? Because he is stupid. I don't mean that he has a low IQ, but rather he hasn't realized that people vote in this section of the state and continually want to see his presence in WMass. I don't think the Mormons are very proud of you Mitt. You are giving them a bad name. If you hate Mitt as much as I do tell me why.

We're taking bets that Hottie of the Week...

Although this seems like a very easy pick, Charlize Theron is one of the most underrated Hotties in the World. She should be talked about almost every day. She is incredibly beautiful and I don't think even one woman on the planet could argue that fact. Charlize is also extremely fun and has an incredible laugh. She even let Dane Cook kiss her ass. (Click on the video link in the right hand corner.) She is the kind of girl you bring home to Mom 30 seconds after meeting her. I hope you all enjoy. :)

We're taking bets that 80's hair was fun...

It's a very rainy Thursday here in New England. Thursday can only mean one thing here at WTBT... IT is question time!!! Ask everyone to participate. Post your answers in the comments section. If you only want to answer one question that is okay too. Have fun!!!

A. What six songs do you relate most to the 1980's? (I know their are tons, but what

B. What was your favorite cartoon(or other kids program) as a child?

Answers:

A.
1. Jessie's Girl by Rick Springfield - Damn I wish I had a woman like that.
2. Jump by Van Halen - They went from being the biggest band ever to really creepy with the guy from Extreme as their lead singer.
3. Take on me - A-Ha - Perhaps the greatest video ever.
4. Here I Go Again - Whitesnake - Combine great 80's rock hair and Tawny Kitaen on a car and you have a classic song.
5. Whip It - Devo - How did the FCC allow that video and song to be released in the 80's?
6. Living on a Prayer - Bon Jovi - They may have been the #1 Band of the 80's.

B. I loved the Gummi Bears. That was quality television in the 80's. There was great story lines and wonderful characters. My favorite was Tummi Gummi. He was fun and jolly.

* this may be the most disturbing cartoon I have ever seen. DAMN UNICEF!!!
* you hope that Katie Holmes dad brings a shotgun to her wedding with Tom and uses it on him.
* the LA Angels have been amazing over the last 48 hours.
* there is a small part of you wondering if there is a madman with a weather machine messing with the world.
* Nomar is still a hero in Boston.
* if I was looking for another reason to see Keira Knightly's new movie I think I found one.
* there is something very scary about the bird flu.
* candy thieves are the worst.
* thanks to the lock-out the Bruins might actually win the Stanley Cup this year.
* I do love Jessica Biel, but I am not so sure she is the sexiest woman out there.
* if you are looking for a great kids movie you should go see Wallace and Grommit. It has easily become my favorite movie of the last 3 months.
* Notre Dame will give USC its biggest test of the year this weekend. I predict they will pull the upset.

Hey everyone!!! I hope you all enjoyed the Columbus Day holiday. Many of you probably had to work, but I didn't; so be happy for me. :) Here is a music lyrics quiz based on Pascha's request. I have listed the songs from easy to hard. It will be a pretty even mix between rock, pop, country and hip-hop. Answer in the comments section. List the artist and song. We're taking bets that you better get your ark...

Here are a few random thoughts from the last few days.

* I know that we have been spoiled in New England with great weather over the last 3 months, but this rain is a little crazy. It has been no hurricane, but it does feel like this is what the bible called as the "Great Flood". I think I am going to start getting my ark ready.

* Nickelcreek put on an absolutely awesome concert at the Orpheum in Boston on Thursday. You haven't lived until you have seen a mandolin played properly.

* Why is it so hard for climate controlled places to get the right temperatures? It was 7,000 degrees at the Orpheum and most movie theaters like to store meat along with showing a movie.

* It only took one year for Red Sox fans to revert back to having no faith in the Red Sox. This just wasn't their year and I don't think it is the Yankees year either. Hopefully. Besides it is better for baseball for someone else to be in the playoffs like the White Sox and Astros.

We're taking bets that Hottie of the Week...

Hottie Jacqueline Obradors may not be on TV much longer since she is on ABC's Freddie. She was a wicked hot cop on NYPD Blue. She has an incredible sexy look to her and another one of those "Bow down before me" smiles. Maybe her show will stick around despite Freddie Prinze Jr. and brian Austin Green.

We're taking bets that I am not Gel-ing...

It's Thursday once again and that means it is question time. Ask everyone to participate. Post your answers in the comments section. If you only want to answer one question that is okay with me too. Have fun!!!

A. What TV commercial do you absolutely hate seeing?

B. Who are your top three most annoying celebrities and why?

Answers:

A. I absolutely cannot stand Dr. Scholl's Massaging Gel Insole commercials. Tons of people, mostly men, keep saying to each other "I'm Gel-ing. Are you Gel-ing?" They act like they are getting high through their feet as everyone is way too happy about this product.

B.
1. Tara Reid - She has not contributed one good thing to society ever. She got a bad boob job. She has been awful in every movie but Van Wilder and gives party girls a bad name. Why is she still in the news?
2. Britney Spears - Britney aka Queen of the White Trash has not put out any good music in years. (Yes she did put out some good music) She married an absolute loser in Kevin Federline and now is going to be a full-time mother. Who cares about her anymore?
3. Ryan Seacrest - Every time this I see this guy I want to kick him in the teeth. He was an annoying DJ, who became an annoying Reality Show host, who then was an annoying talk show host, and he is now taking over for Casey Kasem. What is wrong with this world that Ryan Seacrest is so freaking popular?

WTBT Volume 27...

We're taking bets that...

* it sucks when your team loses the first game in a playoff series.
* it is great knowing your team will make a huge comeback in game two.
* there is something very depressing seeing two people you don't know break-up.
* the Detriot Tigers will be in the World Series within 5 years now that Jim Leyland is manager.
* kids in Spokane, Washington have serious dancing issues.
* a man must have invented writing on the backs of shorts and sweatpants for women. "No, I was not looking at your ass. I was just trying to read what it said on the back back." :)
* Jennifer Aniston doesn't want to be a rebound girl, but I would love to be her rebound guy.
* you cannot wait for the puck to drop tonight starting off Hockey's triumphant return.
* there are definitely places you don't want to wake up drunk and your college president's office is surely one of them.
* San Diego will win game two against St. Louis. (Strongest prediction I have made in years.)
* Conan O'Brien is probably the best late night talk show host you don't watch. His U2 show is pretty cool idea.
* sometimes it is hard being one of the only men in your graduate class. You think men are jerks. Whatever.
* being a Patriots fan was tough this weekend, but I am sure the rest of the NFL fans were happy.
* the paparazzi almost got another one. Sadly it doesn't really make you upset that it was Ms. Lohan.

8. "Well, gentlemen, when the shit hits the fan, some guys run and some guys stay."
9. "Verbal ability is a highly overrated thing in a guy, and it's our pathetic need for it that gets us into so much trouble."
10. "There are several quintessential moments in a man's life: losing his virginity, getting married, becoming a father, and having the right girl smile at you."

We're taking bets that we waste too much time on stupid stuff...

Here are a couple of random observations...

* Scientists have found the perfect combonation of water and sand for making a perfect sandcastle. No we have not cured AIDS or Cancer, but we can make sandcastles. How ridiculous is this? I think we should then study the proper techique for making the perfect spitball.

* Fantasia Barrio from American Idol cannot read. She has written a book though. The saddest thing in the article is that she does not mention whether or not she is trying to learn to read. HELLO!!! You have a four year old daughter!!!

* George W. Bush has described his new Supreme Court Justice nominee as "a pit bull in size 6 shoes." I wonder if Laura Bush gets the same type of comments. "Honey, you are like a cow in leather." or "Baby, you are a gorilla in Gucci." I think most men should look at GWB and say that is not how to succeed. Luckily for him he had a very rich and powerful daddy.

Blogger's notes: In the Fantasia article that I originally read it did not include the part that she was learning to read. In the article I posted it did say that. Thank you to Krystina for pointing that out. :)

We're taking bets that guitar solos can get old...

Last night I saw Los Lonely Boys at the Big E. I was sitting behind a chainsmoking Shelley Winters look-a-like from the movie Pete's Dragon. That aside they put on a pretty good concert. They are a jam band and love to do long guitar solos. They are very talented so it was nice to see a guitar solo or two, but every song had an extended version of a guitar solo. That seems to be their thing. It got to the point that if I never hear another guitar solo I might be okay. They also did not play my favorite song by them, More Than Love. Unfortunately that made the concert a little bit disappointing for me. I understand if they had 11 albums and they didn't play my favorite song on album 5, but they only have one CD. It was one of two songs they made a video for and really showcased their talents as songwriters and musicians. There is still nothing like a live concert and I wouldn't have changed the experience. Musicians can be the most fun people, but play the music your fans love. Please!!!

We're taking bets that new memories are the best things in the world...

Here are a couple of random observations from this weekend.

* Having the winning team of the 2005 RHA Bed Race is awesome. I have only been here two weeks and I already feel part of campus. The students are incredible and my RA's have been fantastic. Go LaRiv!!!
* If the Red Sox don't win and the Indians do win tomorrow I don't think I will be able to watch the playoff on Monday. Because I don't need another Effing person like Bucky Fucking Dent and Bill Fucking Buckner. (Sorry for the language, but if you were from New England you would understand.)
* Batman Begins may have been one of the best movies of the summer. Seeing for the second time yesterday proved that to me. I think Michael Caine also might have the coolest British accent ever.
* Tom DeLay may set back the Republican Party's dominance in recent elections. His colleagues really should stop supporting him.
* SNL is back tonight and everyone should watch because Steven Carell is going to host. I predict that Will Farrell will make a cameo appearence. Additionally Kanye West is the musical guest so anything crazy really could happen.
