We're taking bets that everyone does stupid stuff...

Hello everybody!!! I hope that everyone is doing well. Question time again at WTBT and I hope everyone participates. Put your answers in the comments section. Have fun!!!

A. What is the dumbest thing you've ever done to get out of doing something?

B. If you could choose one movie that you relate to most what would it be and why?

Answers:

A. I hid behind the couch in my parent's living room for two days during my junior year of high school to avoid making a presentation. I was very shy and public speaking terrified me at the time. It worked well because I only needed to be back there for a couple of hours until my mother went to work. I never did make that presentation.

B. I think that I relate most to ANGUS. It sounds kind of funny, but I am a big guy who is considered by most to be a nice guy. I tend to be shy when I am in most social situations. A lot of people know me, but I would still get picked on by the most popular people. Hopefully in the end I will win out like Angus did.

We're taking bets that Romney dropped the ball again...

Massachusetts has had a rough week. Although it was nothing compared to the devastation of Hurricane Katrina or Rita it has been pretty bad. Governor Mitt "I only care about being President" Romney waited until 3/4 of the state was in dire need before declaring a state of emergency. He failed to even stop and see the destruction in Western Mass. because we don't really count like Boston does. It was up to Mayor Charlie Ryan to try and help Springfield.

Mitt Romney has been an absolute disgrace. He has seemed to forget that the Commonwealth of Massachusetts consists of four main areas: Eastern Mass., Central Mass., the Cape and the Islands, and Western Mass. Why is this? Because he is stupid. I don't mean that he has a low IQ, but rather he hasn't realized that people vote in this section of the state and continually want to see his presence in WMass. I don't think the Mormons are very proud of you Mitt. You are giving them a bad name. If you hate Mitt as much as I do tell me why.

We're taking bets that Hottie of the Week...

Although this seems like a very easy pick, Charlize Theron is one of the most underrated Hotties in the World. She should be talked about almost every day. She is incredibly beautiful and I don't think even one woman on the planet could argue that fact. Charlize is also extremely fun and has an incredible laugh. She even let Dane Cook kiss her ass. (Click on the video link in the right hand corner.) She is the kind of girl you bring home to Mom 30 seconds after meeting her. I hope you all enjoy. :)

We're taking bets that 80's hair was fun...

It's a very rainy Thursday here in New England. Thursday can only mean one thing here at WTBT... IT is question time!!! Ask everyone to participate. Post your answers in the comments section. If you only want to answer one question that is okay too. Have fun!!!

A. What six songs do you relate most to the 1980's? (I know their are tons, but what

B. What was your favorite cartoon(or other kids program) as a child?

Answers:

A.
1. Jessie's Girl by Rick Springfield - Damn I wish I had a woman like that.
2. Jump by Van Halen - They went from being the biggest band ever to really creepy with the guy from Extreme as their lead singer.
3. Take on me - A-Ha - Perhaps the greatest video ever.
4. Here I Go Again - Whitesnake - Combine great 80's rock hair and Tawny Kitaen on a car and you have a classic song.
5. Whip It - Devo - How did the FCC allow that video and song to be released in the 80's?
6. Living on a Prayer - Bon Jovi - They may have been the #1 Band of the 80's.

B. I loved the Gummi Bears. That was quality television in the 80's. There was great story lines and wonderful characters. My favorite was Tummi Gummi. He was fun and jolly.

* this may be the most disturbing cartoon I have ever seen. DAMN UNICEF!!!
* you hope that Katie Holmes dad brings a shotgun to her wedding with Tom and uses it on him.
* the LA Angels have been amazing over the last 48 hours.
* there is a small part of you wondering if there is a madman with a weather machine messing with the world.
* Nomar is still a hero in Boston.
* if I was looking for another reason to see Keira Knightly's new movie I think I found one.
* there is something very scary about the bird flu.
* candy thieves are the worst.
* thanks to the lock-out the Bruins might actually win the Stanley Cup this year.
* I do love Jessica Biel, but I am not so sure she is the sexiest woman out there.
* if you are looking for a great kids movie you should go see Wallace and Grommit. It has easily become my favorite movie of the last 3 months.
* Notre Dame will give USC its biggest test of the year this weekend. I predict they will pull the upset.

WTBT Music Lyrics Quiz...

Hey everyone!!! I hope you all enjoyed the Columbus Day holiday. Many of you probably had to work, but I didn't; so be happy for me. :) Here is a music lyrics quiz based on Pascha's request. I have listed the songs from easy to hard. It will be a pretty even mix between rock, pop, country and hip-hop. Answer in the comments section. List the artist and song. Even if you don't know them all give it a try. Try not to cheat. Good luck.

1. Movin' to the country, I'm gonna eat a lot of peaches

We're taking bets that you better get your ark...

Here are a few random thoughts from the last few days.

* I know that we have been spoiled in New England with great weather over the last 3 months, but this rain is a little crazy. It has been no hurricane, but it does feel like this is what the bible called as the "Great Flood". I think I am going to start getting my ark ready.

* Nickelcreek put on an absolutely awesome concert at the Orpheum in Boston on Thursday. You haven't lived until you have seen a mandolin played properly.

* Why is it so hard for climate controlled places to get the right temperatures? It was 7,000 degrees at the Orpheum and most movie theaters like to store meat along with showing a movie.

* It only took one year for Red Sox fans to revert back to having no faith in the Red Sox. This just wasn't their year and I don't think it is the Yankees year either. Hopefully. Besides it is better for baseball for someone else to be in the playoffs like the White Sox and Astros.

We're taking bets that Hottie of the Week...

Hottie Jacqueline Obradors may not be on TV much longer since she is on ABC's Freddie. She was a wicked hot cop on NYPD Blue. She has an incredible sexy look to her and another one of those "Bow down before me" smiles. Maybe her show will stick around despite Freddie Prinze Jr. and brian Austin Green.

We're taking bets that I am not Gel-ing...

It's Thursday once again and that means it is question time. Ask everyone to participate. Post your answers in the comments section. If you only want to answer one question that is okay with me too. Have fun!!!

A. What TV commercial do you absolutely hate seeing?

B. Who are your top three most annoying celebrities and why?

Answers:

A. I absolutely cannot stand Dr. Scholl's Massaging Gel Insole commercials. Tons of people, mostly men, keep saying to each other "I'm Gel-ing. Are you Gel-ing?" They act like they are getting high through their feet as everyone is way too happy about this product.

B.
1. Tara Reid - She has not contributed one good thing to society ever. She got a bad boob job. She has been awful in every movie but Van Wilder and gives party girls a bad name. Why is she still in the news?
2. Britney Spears - Britney aka Queen of the White Trash has not put out any good music in years. (Yes she did put out some good music) She married an absolute loser in Kevin Federline and now is going to be a full-time mother. Who cares about her anymore?
3. Ryan Seacrest - Every time this I see this guy I want to kick him in the teeth. He was an annoying DJ, who became an annoying Reality Show host, who then was an annoying talk show host, and he is now taking over for Casey Kasem. What is wrong with this world that Ryan Seacrest is so freaking popular?

WTBT Volume 27...

We're taking bets that...

* it sucks when your team loses the first game in a playoff series.
* it is great knowing your team will make a huge comeback in game two.
* there is something very depressing seeing two people you don't know break-up.
* the Detriot Tigers will be in the World Series within 5 years now that Jim Leyland is manager.
* kids in Spokane, Washington have serious dancing issues.
* a man must have invented writing on the backs of shorts and sweatpants for women. "No, I was not looking at your ass. I was just trying to read what it said on the back back." :)
* Jennifer Aniston doesn't want to be a rebound girl, but I would love to be her rebound guy.
* you cannot wait for the puck to drop tonight starting off Hockey's triumphant return.
* there are definitely places you don't want to wake up drunk and your college president's office is surely one of them.
* San Diego will win game two against St. Louis. (Strongest prediction I have made in years.)
* Conan O'Brien is probably the best late night talk show host you don't watch. His U2 show is pretty cool idea.
* sometimes it is hard being one of the only men in your graduate class. You think men are jerks. Whatever.
* being a Patriots fan was tough this weekend, but I am sure the rest of the NFL fans were happy.
* the paparazzi almost got another one. Sadly it doesn't really make you upset that it was Ms. Lohan.

WTBT Movie Quiz

Hey everyone!!! Time for a movie quiz. There will be ten quotes and they will start from easy to hardest. Answer them in the comments section. The movie and who said it(either the actor or the character). Remember even answer if you don't know them all. Good Luck :)

2. "Maybe I will, GOSH!"
3. "Striker, listen, and you listen close: flying a plane is no different than riding a bicycle, just a lot harder to put baseball cards in the spokes."

5. "Just going to the kitchen to get some food, then I'm going to tell you a story that will make your balls shrink to the size of raisins."
6. "I understand you may have had sexual relations with my daughter before, but under our roof, it's my way or the Long Island Expressway. So just keep your snake in its cage for 72 hours. "
7. "Roz, my tender, oozing blossom you're looking fabulous today. Is that a new haircut?"
8. "Well, gentlemen, when the shit hits the fan, some guys run and some guys stay."
9. "Verbal ability is a highly overrated thing in a guy, and it's our pathetic need for it that gets us into so much trouble."
10. "There are several quintessential moments in a man's life: losing his virginity, getting married, becoming a father, and having the right girl smile at you."

We're taking bets that we waste too much time on stupid stuff...

Here are a couple of random observations...

* Scientists have found the perfect combonation of water and sand for making a perfect sandcastle. No we have not cured AIDS or Cancer, but we can make sandcastles. How ridiculous is this? I think we should then study the proper techique for making the perfect spitball.

* Fantasia Barrio from American Idol cannot read. She has written a book though. The saddest thing in the article is that she does not mention whether or not she is trying to learn to read. HELLO!!! You have a four year old daughter!!!

* George W. Bush has described his new Supreme Court Justice nominee as "a pit bull in size 6 shoes." I wonder if Laura Bush gets the same type of comments. "Honey, you are like a cow in leather." or "Baby, you are a gorilla in Gucci." I think most men should look at GWB and say that is not how to succeed. Luckily for him he had a very rich and powerful daddy.

Blogger's notes: In the Fantasia article that I originally read it did not include the part that she was learning to read. In the article I posted it did say that. Thank you to Krystina for pointing that out. :)

We're taking bets that guitar solos can get old...

Last night I saw Los Lonely Boys at the Big E. I was sitting behind a chainsmoking Shelley Winters look-a-like from the movie Pete's Dragon. That aside they put on a pretty good concert. They are a jam band and love to do long guitar solos. They are very talented so it was nice to see a guitar solo or two, but every song had an extended version of a guitar solo. That seems to be their thing. It got to the point that if I never hear another guitar solo I might be okay. They also did not play my favorite song by them, More Than Love. Unfortunately that made the concert a little bit disappointing for me. I understand if they had 11 albums and they didn't play my favorite song on album 5, but they only have one CD. It was one of two songs they made a video for and really showcased their talents as songwriters and musicians. There is still nothing like a live concert and I wouldn't have changed the experience. Musicians can be the most fun people, but play the music your fans love. Please!!!

We're taking bets that new memories are the best things in the world...

Here are a couple of random observations from this weekend.

* Having the winning team of the 2005 RHA Bed Race is awesome. I have only been here two weeks and I already feel part of campus. The students are incredible and my RA's have been fantastic. Go LaRiv!!!
* If the Red Sox don't win and the Indians do win tomorrow I don't think I will be able to watch the playoff on Monday. Because I don't need another Effing person like Bucky Fucking Dent and Bill Fucking Buckner. (Sorry for the language, but if you were from New England you would understand.)
* Batman Begins may have been one of the best movies of the summer. Seeing for the second time yesterday proved that to me. I think Michael Caine also might have the coolest British accent ever.
* Tom DeLay may set back the Republican Party's dominance in recent elections. His colleagues really should stop supporting him.
* SNL is back tonight and everyone should watch because Steven Carell is going to host. I predict that Will Farrell will make a cameo appearence. Additionally Kanye West is the musical guest so anything crazy really could happen.

We're taking bets that Hottie of the Week...

Newly separated Sophia Bush is a wonderful Hottie of the Week. She rushed into marriage with the creepy Chad Michael Murray(He looks a little too much like the youngest 7th Heaven boy who really creeps me out.), but we don't have to hold that against her. Right Renee? She has a great smile and really captivating eyes. Hopefully she will find a better beau than good old CMM.

We're taking bets that Chewbacca isn't a pitcher...

Am I the only one that was disturbed by Chewbacca from Star Wars throwing out the first pitch at Fenway Park last night? That was definitely a weird site to see. I hope everyone is doing well. It is question time again. Some fun questions for everyone to enjoy. Remember you can answer anonymously, so put your answers in the comments section.

A. What would you rather do and why? Drink 16 oz. of your least favorite drink or eat a serving size of your least favorite food.

B. What is the one thing you would like to be famous for?(even if you are awful at it now)

Answers

A. I would much rather eat something because you could swallow the food down quickly with out too much touching your tastebuds. Drinking something awful would just stay with you all day. Yuck.

B. I would like to be a famous singer/dancer. I have a very average(maybe below average) voice. I do know that I cannot really dance, but I do still try. I do know that I am better than at least one person in the world whose upper body moves independently of his lower body. Can anyone guess who? :)

We're taking bets that red is not my color...

I am a relatively hard person to embarrass. I go with the flow and don't blush all that often. Today was one of those few times. I was sitting in my car riding from the Old Job to the New Job and I was singing along to the radio. Now those of you that know me realize that I am a car dancer and like to bop my head along with the music. I came to a stoplight and I didn't really realize what the song was that I was singing. Then I looked over at the car next to me and the 50 year old woman was giving me a funny look. I really didn't care if she thought my dancing was funny, but then I realized I was singing along to My Humps by the Black Eyed Peas. This isn't really a song a grown man should be singing. I immediately decided to change the station and stop singing. I am not sure why I felt embarrassed as she had no clue what I was singing, but I did. There are certain songs people shouldn't sing. If I ever heard my Dad singing "Too Close" by Next or my Mother singing "Me So Horny" by 2LiveCrew. I would be embarrassed then too. It is not often it happens, but I was embarrased today. :)

WTBT Volume Twenty-eight...

We're taking bets that...

* you don't know how often getting a gift of quality bull semen has strengthened my ties with another person.
* this might be the most exciting week in years for baseball fans around the nation.
* Ashton and Demi are going to be the next Tim Robbins and Susan Sarandon. Creepy couple that actually stays together.
* the Patriots are going to have a tough time this season with all their injuries.
* 52 extra seconds or not the Steelers lost.
* you have not lived until you have seen the "Turkeys Away" episode of WKRP in Cincinnati. I have it if you need it.
* it will be a shame if Barry Bonds retires after this season.
* Trump's boys can swim.
* in football it should be the Big Least not the Big East.
* you were not shocked to hear that Chad Michael Murray and Sophia Bush of One Tree Hill have ended their marriage already.
* you know that the Jets are in trouble when they have turned to Vinnie Testeverde as QB.
* if you like pop culture at all you should read this interview of Chuck Klosterman by Bill Simmons.
* the NL Championship Series will be the Braves vs. the Padres and you heard it here first.
* with all that happens in this world it is good to know that the panda's are being watched.
* Penn State football will be in the Top Ten before the season is over.
* you can't believe Jodie Foster keeps making top grossing movies.
* Cadillac Williams is the best name in the NFL. He also has a cool little song on his website.
* Lynndie England will deserve everything she gets in the Abu Gharib sentencing.
* next Wednesday is going to be a great day for Hockey Fans.

We're taking bets that the world should know...

Sorry for the boring post today, but I don't feel funny. I do think this information is important for the rest of the world though and need to share. Actually it is critical for the female portion of the world. Not so much the males for me, but I will try anything once and with Teri twice. :)

You're an Expert Kisser

You're a kissing pro, but it's all about quality and not quantity
You've perfected your kissing technique and can knock anyone's socks off
And you're adaptable, giving each partner what they crave
When it comes down to it, your kisses are truly unforgettable

We're taking bets that sometimes you need to share your feelings...

Open Letter to You Know Who,

I am very sorry. I know it was I who moved away and put this distance between us. The move was the best decision for me and there was nothing you could do to change my mind. It doesn't make it hurt any less, that I had to go. I didn't realize until now how addicted I am to you. With your best seasons coming up it makes me miss you even more.

It is not like I don't see you at all. I do get some time with you at least once a week, but before we had so much more opportunity to see each other. It seemed like whenever I turned around I was able to find you. Now we have such a distance between us and it is making me miserable. I have seen and talked to others and no one can compare to you. You keep me warm on a cold night and cool me off on a hot summer day. Where am I going to find that again? Sure I can drive to see you and you do make the inconvenience worthwhile, but as each day passes it gets harder and harder to do.

Why can't I get you out of my system? It took me a long time to even give you a chance and maybe now our time has past. I know you never promised me anything or even said I love you back, but we had something special. Once I had a taste of you my whole world changed. Oh my dear Starbucks please open a new store near me. I miss you so and don't think that I can live with out you. Show me you care for me as much as I care for you.

Love Forever,

Greg

We're taking bets that Martha Burk is part of what is wrong with America...

By now you are probably sick of my rants regarding political correctness. I have taken the stance that most political correctness has gone too far and people protest stuff just to get their 15 minutes of fame. Martha Burk is the number one offender of this. Martha or Marty as her friends call her is the chairwoman of the National Council of Women's Organizations. The NCWO is a nonpartisan, nonprofit umbrella organization of groups that collectively represent over ten million women across the United States. I think that this is overall a great organization that advocates for women rights. Since the US began women have not had the same opportunities as men and they need to be given those opportunities.

With that being said Marty deserves repeated flicks to the forehead. She is currently protesting the NHL. The NHL has started a new ad campaign called MY NHL. (If you click on the Unveiling or TV ad you will see.) She is protesting the woman in the video for being too provacative. What? Has she watched any other TV shows on basic cable. Desperate Housewives or the O.C. must be porn to this woman. Everyone in the US has a right to their opinion, but when you are representing millions of people and saying that your opinion should be the one that is heard I have a huge problem with it. Did she talk to any of her constituents before formulating this opinion. I have talked to 10 women already about this who think she is crazy. The NHL is going to have enough problems with out Marty sticking her nose in it. Marty go back and protest Hootie and the Blowfish down at Augusta National and get off of the NHL's back.

We're taking bets that Hottie of the Week...

Hottie Fantastic Maggie Grace has one of the sexiest pouty looks ever. Playing Shannon on the best show on TV, LOST, she is finally getting to show off her acting talent. She will also be in the upcoming horror movie The Fog. I just hope she doesn't stay too lost for long. :) Don't forget to check out the Question of the Week that was posted late yesterday.

We're taking bets that many things are overrated...

I apologize to my faithful readers for not having a question of the day. For some reason I thought today was Wednesday and not Thursday. I have a couple of simple fun questions. Post your answers in the comments section. Have fun!!!

A. What are your top 5 overrated music groups? (Idea stolen from boston.com)

B. What is the one food you will not eat even though many other people have no problem with it? If you are a vegetarian please use vegetarian stuff and not meat. :)

Answers:

A. 1. Dave Mathews Band - I just don't get it. He has some good music, but he is not a music god like most people think.
2. The Rolling Stones - They were The Beatles 2. None of their music makes me happy. They have definitely lived past their touring years.
3. Moby - He has a few good songs, but just because he is different everyone thinks he is so great.
4. N'SYNC - The Backstreet Boys were better.
5. 50 Cent - He was overexposed and his music now makes me want to kick things.

B. Orange Marmalade - I really think it is digusting and I love oranges. How do people put this on their toast or bagel. Yuck.

WTBT Volume 27...

We're taking bets that...

* the first coffin is in the Red Sox season.
* when there is a fire alarm you should skedaddle.
* it was scary being a Patriot fan and seeing them being a normal team.
* birthdays are way overrated. :)
* Barry Bonds is absolutely the best player ever and I don't think he took any steroids to make him that way.
* over the next ten years we will experience the worst hurricanes we have ever seen.
* this may be the best news soccer fans have ever gotten.
* watching the plane in LA crash land was one of the scariest real life things I have seen since 9/11.
* Rafael Palmeiro is not only a liar, but he is also a rat.
* Martha Stewart's Apprentice will only be on one season.
* it is time to hand over the Red Sox bullpen to Jon Papelbon and Craig Hansen.
* LOST lived up to the hype.
* the Phillies will win the National League wildcard.
* you are glad you were not a juror on this case.
* it makes millions of women feel better that Kate Moss needed cocaine to keep herself skinny.

We're taking bets sometimes fear gets in the way...

Many of you may remember my story about my awful haircut. It has been a very traumatic experience and the repercussions are being felt as we speak. I am six days away from the two month mark. I have not received a haircut since. Yesterday after my eye doctor appointment I was going to get a haircut.

It never happened. Although my hair looks quite awful right now and is going to quickly become a weird afro, I am afraid to get a haircut. I drove past at least 50 different places that I could have gotten a haircut and had anxiety at every place. I didn't even get out of my car. Now I know that this sounds stupidly superficial, but I do enough things that make me look like a freak that my hair was always relatively normal. Part of me wants to drive to Lowell and let the ladies who have never given me a bad haircut do it. With gas prices that will make it about a $40 haircut. Is it worth it? It really is sad that one simple event can effect you in such a way. Stupid hairdresser. Maybe I will break down and just go to a barber. Getting your hair washed by is something special though. What is a boy to do? :)

We're taking bets that virgins are funny...

Today, I went and saw 40 Year Old Virgin. It definitely was a funny movie. Though I think there may be something odd about being a male going to see that movie and being the only person in there. Hmmmm?

We're taking bets that babies were never this exciting...

Why has pop media become obsessed with celebrity babies? The media frenzy around Britney Spears white trash baby is crazy. Lucille Ball was the first to have baby excitement but that was over 40 years ago and it was exciting because it was the first. No one really cares that Heidi Klum ate avocados dipped in peanut butter. Having a baby is a special moment in people's lives and they deserve their right to privacy. A photographer actually dressed up as a welder to try and get into see Britney's baby. Why he didn't choose a nurse's outfit or delivery guy I will never understand, although Kevin Federline probably thought that is how you cut the umbilical cord. I think that we should let pregnant women alone. Once they have had the baby and the child has turned 3, we then can make fun of them. :)

We're taking bets that some things make me shake my head...

Yesterday I heard the term "knob slobber" on the radio. Part of me laughs, but the other part of me is very disturbed. It was 3:30 in the afternoon and the discussion was getting a little bit graphic. It ended with the "knob slobber" comment and they went to commercial. I changed the channel. Does anyone really use these terms on a regular basis? I think it is better to just come out and say blow job, but that is me. Imagine a ten year old going home and asking Mommy if she is a "knob slobberer". Alright that would be comedy, but what has this world come to.

We're taking bets that Hottie of the Week...

Hottie Jennifer Esposito has a new show on the WB called Related. She was the spicy secretary in Spin City and always brought a great hotness to that show that was only topped by Heather Locklear. She has been great in a ton of movies and deserves a shot at being the star of her own show. I for one am hoping that we see more of her.

We're taking bets that you have a question for John Roberts...

Hello EVERYBODY!!! It is Thursday again, which means question time for the readers of WTBT. Hopefully you will find these questions interesting and exciting. Please post your answers in the comments section. Remember you can do it anonymously and only answer the questions you want if you are too embarrassed to answer others. Invite friends and help get readership up. Thanks.

A. If you could ask Supreme Court Chief Justice nominee John Roberts just one question what would it be and why?

B. If you could have been the author of just one book in history what book would it be and why?

C. What is the one item of clothing or clothing style that you see on someone that makes you think that person is attractive?

Answers

A. I think I would ask whether it is the Chief Justice's personal beliefs that should guide them in their decisions or should it be the facts of the case pertaining to the Constitution. I think too often people assume that personal beliefs go into a lot of the Supreme Court decisions and I don't think that is always the case. I want to know if he feels the same way.

B. I think for me I would want to be the author of "The Notebook" (written by Nicholas Sparks). It is a great book about true love and there isn't one person that I know that hasn't loved it after reading it. It may be a little sappy, but that is who I am.

C. I have always loved women in overalls and a white t-shirt. (Hair in a ponytail with a Red Sox hat makes it even better) I don't know what it is about that look to me is very sexy without showing off a lot. The other great thing is that there is a large population of women that can pull off the look and it is not just for the skinny people. I think that women should wear overalls much more often than they do. :)

We're taking bets that if you think that's ugly I can top it...

I honestly believe that some people do not look in a mirror when they leave the house for work. I currently work with a person who thinks that Hawaiian shirts are stylish to wear on a daily basis. Keep in mind that he has a creepy mustache that could easily morph into a handlebar mustache if he wanted. He also wears belt buckles slightly smaller than his head and sometimes wears cowboy boots. When he is wearing cowboy boots I would swear that a women wearing heels is walking down the hall, but nope it is DragonBoy. Yes he has a Hawaiian shirt with an enormous dragon on it. What is he thinking about when he is putting on this clothing? I know that I am not a fashion plate and that I used to wear a pair of mustard colored jean shorts, but it is acceptable when you are younger. Today I saw a high school kid who had an Azreal haircut and was wearing oversized jeans, fishnet stockings on his arms, and two jean jackets(I think one was a vest actually). Once you hit 22 I think that dressing crazy for work should stop. Is there one crazy dresser in every office in America? Please check yourself before you go out and wreck yourself. :)

We're taking bets that glitter should be outlawed...

Glitter is an evil thing. Yes, it does make things look sparkly. It also gets all over everything and it never goes away. It is a lot like corn that ends up in the toilet when you vomit months later after eating corn. Then you say, "I haven't had corn in months." Well I have never knowingly used glitter, but somehow it gets on me. Glitter manufactures even hide it in products like lip balm and lotion to fool the non-glitter loving public. Inevitably it will end up on your face and someone will have to ask if you are wearing glitter. I don't feel comfortable when someone just reaches out and touches my face to remove glitter unless they look like Evangeline Lilly.

Women are the biggest fans of glitter especially if you go out to clubs. Most women complain that men look at their chests too much, but if you put glitter on your chest I am probably going to stare. Men love to look at sparkly objects. It can fascinate us for hours. I think glitter is the main reason most men cannot focus on a woman's eyes. If women thought about it they should put a little glitter right between their eyes and we would stare there when you are talking to us. Glitter is ruining our society and extending the gap between men and women. For the love of God, I am begging you world; please stop with the glitter.

We're taking bets that nothing should interrupt happy hour...

Here is something interesting world news.

Happy Hour is something that makes it worth getting through the day. These people at Ollie's have unfortunately fallen in a hole they cannot get out of.

Sometimes you get bitten in the butt when monkey business occurs.

It is amazing what you can do without one of you senses. I've never driven past 105MPH and I have all my senses.

You need to be careful when messing with "Reggie". "Little Reggie" is not a problem though.

We're taking bets that if you want it all you've got to lay it all on the line...

Here are some observations from the cheap seats:

* In a most important development I was actually cool when the cute receptionist behind the counter at an eyeglasses place flirted with me and told me I looked much younger than my age. No nothing happened(Her boyfriend stopped by shortly after and I am not a pick-up artist of any kind), but the fact was that I was cool for a couple of minutes. Doesn't happen very often and may not happen again this decade, but it did once.

* Now that phone booths are no longer common place where does Superman go to change from Clark Kent? This is an important thing that needs to be explored. I mean there isn't really anywhere to hide. Maybe in one of those pay-public toilets. Of course he would have to carry around a pocket full of quarters.

* If my brother and I saw one more shot of Tom Brady's footwork yesterday I think we would have gone up to Foxboro just to punch John Madden. That guy really gets stuck on one thing and the ABC producers let him ramble on.

* Why do older men (68+) insist on wearing long socks to their calves while wearing shorts? It is not the fact that some wear black, some brown, some white, some argyle, but the fact that your lower legs cannot get that cold. Are they hiding their ankles? Is there something I should know about getting older and my ankles?

* It is sometimes fun to be around a dirty old man because you get to be the apologetic one while the old guy makes comments. They have no shame and just shout things out sometimes that usually would get you beaten up in a bar, but is fair game at Home Depot.

* Do the Raiders really think they are going to be a good team this year? The only hope they have is to throw 10 balls each half long and hope that Randy Moss catches at least 3 or 4 of them. The Patriots were not peak performers and they still made the Raiders look bad.

* Has everyone seen the picture of Evangeline Lilly and Michelle Rodriguez in the latest issue of Entertainment Weekly? Holy Hotness!!!

* Steve Shields threw 3 of the nastiest pitches for strike three I have ever seen last night against the Red Sox. All with the bases loaded. You will not see a performance again this season.

* It shocks me that only three people responded to my weekly questions. Especially with the stripper song question. Everyone has thought about that at least once and many of you have did it in front of a mirror while that song was playing in your room. Yes Everyone. :)

* The cliche is that you can never go home again, but for the second time in less than a year I am going to try again. WNEC here I come!!!

We're taking bets that Hottie of the Week...

In honor of the new Fall TV Season here is a new hottie. Amanda Righetti from Fox's Reunion. She is a gorgeous girl, who could sizzle on this new concept show. She has been on the O.C. and North Shore previously and hopefully this show will catapult her to stardom.

We're taking bets that flamboyant can be too much...

It feels like Friday. Why does it always feel like that when you had Monday off. Shouldn't it feel like Wednesday. Anyway, thank goodness that the weekend is almost here. Here are a few questions. I don't have the answer to one and would really like other people's opinion. The rest of the questions are fun. Post your answers in the comments section. Ask your friends; have colleagues answer; get people involved. They can do it anonymously.

A. Why is it that a majority of "out" gay men have to always be the center of attention? I don't get this and I have dealt with a lot of gay men. Is there anyone who could shed light on this? I don't mean that they flaunt they are gay just that they need to be the center of attention.

B. If you were going to be a stripper what song would you choreograph your routine to?

C. Would you rather have sexy appeal or be good looking? There is definitely a difference. Example Bono is not all that good looking, but he definitely has sex appeal.

Answers:

B. This is a tougher question than I thought it would be. I first thought that Do Me by Bell Biv Devoe would be my best choice, but I thought that was a little too provacative. Then I thought that Shoop by Salt-N-Pepa, but I think I need a male vocalist. So I really think Sexual Healing by Marvin Gaye, but the remixed version.

C. I definitely would rather have sex appeal because being sexy is always helpful. Even when you are older you can use having sex appeal. Good looking requires a lot of work no matter how good looking you are. At 80 good looking might help a little, but sex appeal would help a lot. :)

WTBT Volume 25...

We're taking bets that...

* this blog has not been funny lately and it needs to get funnier.
* there will be a great tennis match on Center Court tonight between James Blake and Andre Agassi.
* if your girlfriend can move her hips like Shakira you need to marry her right away.
* it never gets old watching David Ortiz hit walk-off home runs.
* it was always funny watching Gilligan run from the Skipper. Good bye Bob Denver.
* the picture of Good Times on Boston Dirt Dogs is a riot.
* it is very creepy driving through fog after seeing the trailer for the movie, The Fog.
* you were psyched to see the TCU Horned Frogs beat Oklahoma.
* it says something about you if you read Horned Frogs to say Horny Frogs.
* Crocodile Hunter never inspired you to do this.
* TO will never be friends with Donovan McNabb again, but he will catch a ton of touchdowns from him.
* Kevin Federline bought Britney a new diamond ring or Britney gave Kevin the money and then he bought her one.
* Lou Merloni was a cuter Red Sox than Tony Graffanino is. I hope there is fun debate from the women readers.
* there is a ton of truth to Kanye West's statement's about the media's Hurricane Katrina coverage.
* Michael Myers reaction to West was priceless. Ya baby YA!!!
* Barry Bonds will help the SF Giants win the pitifall NL West.
* George Bush made a great offensive move to nominate John Roberts for Chief Justice.
* Notre Dame will beat Michigan this weekend.
* Charlize Theron will make an awesome addition to Arrested Development.
* it is not okay to throw stuff at people but when someone constantly asks you questions about a movie or TV show as it is playing you should have the right to at least throw a pillow. (Telling someone they are restricted from talking for the next 15 minutes as my father did to my mother is funny, but not effective.)

We're taking bets that animals are amazing...

Many of you may have heard that there was not many deaths of animals in both the Tsunami and Hurricane Katrina. It amazes me that we consider ourselves to be the smartest beings on the planet, but it is animals that know when danger is coming. We have made huge technological advances to tell us that danger is coming, but we don't know enough to get out of the way of nature. Thankfully most animals know what to do and stay out of danger.

We're taking bets that the Big Easy isn't...

Thousands of lives have been lost and many more will probably be lost in the coming days. We have reached our worst natural disaster in over 50 years. Celebrities are having fundraising concerts and donating from their coffers. $10.5 billion has been pledged by Congress. Aid has been pledged by Austria, Belgium, Britain, Denmark, Estonia, France, Germany, Greece, Luxembourg, Finland, Italy, Slovakia, Slovenia, Sweden, Spain and The Netherlands. What is the rest of the world doing? Absolutely nothing just like it should.

At some point we decided to be the protectors of the world. When you become the protectors of the world there is no one to protect you. It is great that all of those above countries have helped but we keep forgetting how to take care of ourselves. Many things could have been done to prevent the levees breaking. No I don't blame Bush, but all of the politicians that have come and gone over the last twenty years when flags were raised regarding New Orleans. Maybe this tragedy will allow us to look a little harder at what effects us as Americans and a little less on what is going on in the rest of the world. Maybe then the rest of the world wouldn't hate us so much.

We're taking bets that I have to pee...

I was denied the use of a bathroom the other day. The bathroom was a unisex bathroom with a lock on it. I was told that we do not let men use that bathroom. Didn't matter that was the only available bathroom in the area. It would have been okay for me to pee in the bushes than use this bathroom. No, of course not then I would have been arrested for indecent exposure as well as causing unsafe conditions and vandalizing a public building. I have realized that our society is always one step from barbarianism. Hurricane Katrina has showed that. Survival of the fittest. Not letting a fellow employee use a bathroom because you are afraid they might pee on the seat. Everything in my being wants to go back to that bathroom and remove the toilet seat so then it would make it harder for that lady to use the bathroom. She would then have to hover and probably at some point would slip and fall it. That would be nice.

We're taking bets that Hottie of the Week...

Hottie Anna Faris who originally starred in the Scary Movie movies. She is one of the few people who can go from blond to brunette and still look pretty hot. She has a fun smile and is wonderful at comedy which definitely makes her hotter. She had an excellent cameo in Lost in Translation and will soon be in a very funny movie called Waiting.

We're taking bets you know more than I do...

It is question time once again. One of today's question will deal with Katrina and won't be answered by me until my Sunday post. The second question will be an as always fun question. Post your answers in the comments section and have fun.

A. The United States was chastized by the world when we made our initial donation for $30 million in Tsunami relief. Currently there has not been mention by any country to give some money for Hurricane relief here in the US. What do you think other countries should be doing to help us? Do we deserve the same type of response? Why or why not?

B. I have asked previously what songs you would stay in the car to hear. Now I would like to know what 5 songs do you almost blow out your car stereo speakers whenever they come on.

Answers:

A. To be answered in Sunday's post.

B. Pour Some Sugar on Me - Def Leppard - It will always be a classic
Ready or Not - The Fugees - Where Oh Where have you Gone Fugees
Where the Streets Have No Name - U2 - Classic Rock
It Takes Two - Rob Bass & DJ EZ Rock - One of the best Rap Songs ever
Maria - TKA - Good Luck finding this song anywhere, but the accoustic version is incredible.

We're taking bets that she's a Golddigger...

I can say that I have perhaps the most eclectic mix of music tastes of anyone I know. I love country to punk to rap to pop. That led me to my purchase of music yesterday. People young and old should be flocking to their local Best Buy/Circuit City/MediaPlay, etc. to buy Kanye West's new album. His first CD College Dropout was fantastic and won two Grammy's. This next CD will probably win 10 Grammy's. This CD Late Registration has unbelievable beats, wonderful hooks and some great messages. Currently my favorite song is "Golddigger" with Jamie Foxx, but "Heard Em Say" with Maroon 5's Adam Levine is a close second. There are a thousand reviews out there so I wouldn't just take my word for it. Even if you are not a huge Hip Hop fan you should be running out to get this CD. Thankfully there are artists like Kanye that make wonderful music. I just hope that he collaborates with Young Jeezy next. That would be some hot music.

WTBT Volume Twenty-Four...

We're taking bets that...

* Over a million podcast listeners are going back to college over the next few weeks. (Courtesy of podcaster Dan from Ohio.)
* David Wells suspension may be a little longer than 6 games after his tirade about the commissioner.
* you are thankful Katrina slowed to a tropical storm as she moved across the US.
* New Hampshire's Chris Carpenter will narrowly beat Roger Clemens for the NL Cy Young award.
* you should be able to hold an ice cream cone in one hand and spin and lick with the other.
* with the Yankees signing of Mark Bellhorn they are trying to become the '04 Red Sox.
* some practical jokes just aren't funny.
* Paula Cremer will be a better golfer than Michelle Wie over their careers.
* Gwyneth Paltrow needs to keep her mind naming her kid something normal and not on Brad Pitt's divorce.
* Lindsay Davenport will win the US Open women's side.
* no one cares anymore about the Aruba abduction.
* although 99% of guys don't have a chance they were excited to hear Jenny McCarthy is single again.

We're taking bets that it's time to put on make-up...

So I purchased The Muppet Show Season One and it is absolutely fantastic. Kermit is a player of epic preportions. He is selling himself out to every woman that guest stars so he can get a kiss. Fozie tells some of the best worst joke ever and Gonzo never gets to finish his act.

What I don't understand is why this wouldn't be a successful show today. It would be one of the greatest kids shows ever. You would have a popular celebrity every week that would show off some of their acting/musical talents. They would be fondled by a different Muppet each week and our children would be exposed to some great culture and comedy. There was always I think that it is time for The Muppet Show to make a comeback. What do you think?

We're taking bets that thoughts need to be shared...

Here are a couple of random observations I have had over the last two days.

* Jerry Lewis' telethon is coming up pretty soon. This guy maybe crazy and starting to look like Jabba the Hutt, but he really has done a great job raising money for Muscular-Dystrophy.

* There is no way the Red Sox can win the World Series if the bullpen continues to struggle. Keith Foulke better comeback firing bullets or the Sox may not even win the division. :(

* The dueling rallies in Crawford seems a little stupid. What are these people really accomplishing? It seems like the pro-Bush rally is only there to be louder than the anti-war rally. Doesn't anyone realize that the troops in Iraq are going to be there for a long time? Like it or not we have committed ourselves to helping that country and removing troops is only going to make things worse. If you want to see changes vote every November and allow your voice to be heard. Protesting in front of Bush's Crawford home is going to get you nowhere. How about another March on Washington? At least that would get everyone's attention.

* The MTV Video Awards will be tonight and they are a must-see event. Thankfully they will be played about a thousand times over the next two weeks. Seeing Dane Cook as a presenter will make it all worthwhile.

* No one is shocked that Rap Mogul Suge Knight was shot recently. This guy will probably be shot 10 more times before he is finally killed. You see that happens when you are the one who is probably responsible for the deaths of Tupac and Biggy.

* This has to be a record hurricane season. Now Katrina is going to mess with New Orleans. Bourbon St. might never look the same. If anyone has ever known a Katrina(I've known at least three) knows that they start off small and only get stronger. There was no doubt in my mind that Katrina was going to make her mark as the worst hurricane of the season. Category 5 is only the start. Katrina could force them to make a Category 6.

We're taking bets that once a thief always a thief...

Being a UCONN basketball fan I am greatly disappointed in the actions of Marcus Williams and A.J. Price. They will be punished for their actions and deservedly so. This article by Doug Gottlieb of ESPN.com really hit home with me. These are kids who made a real bad mistake. They may or may not recover from it, but we need to give them the opportunity. Hopefully we don't have assholes like Jim Delaney of the Big Ten to bring them down 9 years later if they atone for their mistakes. Read the article and tell me what you think. (If you do not have ESPN Insider please feel free to use my username and password and read it. I will be changing the password in one week. USERNAME: GregoryMadrid - PASSWORD: julianne)

We're taking bets that Hottie Couple of the Week...

Hottie Couple Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner may be one of the best matched couples you can find in Hollywood. On their own they are both extremely hot. The scene in Daredevil where Jennifer enters the cafe in a white top and jeans is probably the hottest she has ever been. Ben may not be the greatest actor but he definitely is a Hottie. Just ask Hurricane Shaunna. (Though Ryan is a great substitute.) Have a great weekend everyone.

We're taking bets that Einstein didn't know everything...

Thirsty Thursday Everyone!!! That means it is also Question Time at WTBT. Please post your answers in the comments section. This should be a fun activity for all. Learn about the others that read this blog. Invite your friends. Have a good time.

A. What is your favorite music lyric currently? (Not your all-time favorite, but the one you really like right now.)

B. If you knew that someone was dying, but they didn’t know, would you tell them the truth or deceive them about it?

Answers:

A. Currently I am enamored with Click Five and their lyrics in the song Just the Girl. My favorite line is "She laughs at my dreams But I dream about her laughter" I think it is such a great line.

B. That is a tough call. I don't think so. I think that if I knew exactly when they were going to die I wouldn't probably tell them because who wants to hear that. It would make everything dreadful for them the last week of their life. If I knew that they were dying, but didn't know the date I might tell them, but who would believe me. I am not a doctor and people have outlived "death dates" before. I think that it is better not to know. Though I guess from the day we are born we are then dying; it may just take 100 years.

We're taking bets it is time for the yearly mindset list..

Every year Beloit College in Wisconsin releases a mindset list of incoming freshmen. The list basically names a bunch of things that they have not lived without or things that they would not know about. It is pretty neat to read and makes anyone over the age of 18 feel a little bit old. Here is a sample of the 50 items:

According to the Benoit College Mindset List, for college freshmen born in 1987:
— Liberace, Jackie Gleason, and Lee Marvin have always been dead.
— Heart-lung transplants have always been possible.
— Wayne Gretzky never played for Edmonton.
— Iran and Iraq have never been at war with each other.
— They’re more familiar with Greg Gumbel than with Bryant Gumbel.
— Voice mail has always been available.
— ‘Whatever’ is not part of a question
— They have always had the right to burn the flag.
— Bill Gates has always been worth at least a billion dollars.
— The Starship Enterprise has always looked dated.
— ‘Les Miserables’ has always been on stage.
— Snowboarding has always been a popular winter pastime.
— They do not remember “a kinder and gentler nation.”
— They never saw the shuttle Challenger fly.
— Black Americans have always been known as African-Americans.
— Tom Landry never coached the Cowboys.
— The Field of Dreams has always been drawing people to Iowa.
— They never saw a Howard Johnson’s with 28 ice cream flavors.
— Lyme disease has always been a concern in the woods.

We're taking bets that the Duck wasn't as bad as people think...

In a new bi-monthly(Meaning twice a month. So many people get that wrong.) feature at WTBT we are going to explore an older movie that has not gotten it's due. These by no means are Oscar worthy films, but they should be remembered in our pop culture history. The first movie to be reviewed will be Howard the Duck.

Howard the Duck was made by George Lucas in his first non-Star Wars/Indiana Jones movie. Although he did not direct or write it was seen as his failure. There was a pretty solid cast with Lea Thompson and her big 80's hair as the heroine and Jeffrey Jones fresh off his Ferris Bueller fame as the villian. It also had Tim Robbins as a geeky guy.

The plot of the movie was that Howard was mistakenly beamed from his home planet to Cleveland and now needs to help save the Earth from the Dark Overlords of the Universe. It had some really cool 80's special effects as it was worked on by ILM. The dialogue had a ton of duck related puns. Howard read Playduck and knew how to fight using "Quack-Fu". The movie got a ton of bonus points for having Lea Thompson in her underwear a number of times during the movie. There was a ton of great comedy especially whenever Jeffrey Jones was trying to be the uber-villian. If you are bored one night this would be a great rental and you can end your night doing the DUCK.

We're taking bets that it is fun to be a Mr. or even a Little Miss...

How many people remember the Mr. Men/Little Miss books from our childhood? I did a little bit of research on these fun little characters and found their official website. In the site you can make your own Mr. Men and Little Miss characters. It could be a great teambuilder especially when you make Little Miss Pain in the Ass and Mr. Grabass for your employees or friends. So go checkout it out at www.mrmen.com.

Just one other fun thought for the day. What do you think they call the bucket that they put behind a horse or elephant during a parade? I thought that it would have been called a buttoon as a spin off of a spitoon. What do you think?

WTBT Volume 23...

We're taking bets that...

* Mike from Real World New York may be the person who has milked his 15 minutes of fame the most.
* it is great that Curt Schilling is finally moving into the Red Sox rotation.
* you have no clue why the guy jumped into the cake during Guns-N-Roses "November Rain" video.
* you wonder sometimes if they are going to make a live action/animated movie version of The Wuzzles.
* How I Met Your Mother will be the best new comedy this year.
* Antonio Gates is making a big mistake holding out on the San Diego Chargers.
* it's Miller Time in Milwaukee. Congrats on 150 years of making beer.
* the Kansas City Royals are the worst baseball team in the last 20 years.
* there is no better family movie out than March of the Penguins.
* most kids can't find Iowa on a map, but many say High School is too easy.
* it was great to see Doug Flutie back in a New England Patriots uniform.
* cats don't get much luckier than this one. Nine lives or not.
* Charlie Weis will make the Fighting Irish a National Championship contender in 4 years.
* you are surprised there isn't a Christian group protesting the movie 40 Year Old Virgin because most of them haven't had sex yet either.
* this might be the scariest story of the NFL's preseason.
* until the mechanic's strike is over you are a little leery flying Northwest Airlines.
* Roger Federer might be the best mens tennis player ever.
* John O'Hurley is going to kick ass in his Dancing with the Stars rematch against Kelly Monaco. Seriously that is part of his new dance move.
* you can't believe that Hulk Hogan is headlining WWE's Summer Slam. Isn't he dead yet?

We're taking bets that Hottie of the Week...

Hottie Jennifer Love Hewitt is an excellent choice for a number of reasons. First of all she makes most women crazy to the point of reacting like George Brett during the pine tar incident. (Joke courtesy of Bill Simmons). Secondly she has a great new comedy on CBS called Ghost Whisperer. What? It's a drama? Oops. My bad. Lastly and most importantly she is pretty hot. My friend Dennis says he met her and she was cool and nice to him. Of course I don't think he ever mentioned the fact that security dragged him away from her shortly after she said hi, but that probably happened. :)

We're taking bets that I know this one...

Question time at WTBT. Post your answers in the comments section. Invite friends... have a ball.

A. What is the funniest or unusual thing you could say that would stop a conversation dead in its tracks?

B. What are your top three favorite music videos?

Answers:

A. I think that if you all of a sudden said, "I fart when I cough(sneeze)" most people would stop talking to you and walk away. It makes me giggle now thinking about saying it.

B.

Pour Some Sugar on Me - Def Leppard - There is a girl in the video that I have alway thought was hot. She did a weird thing with her eyes.

Take on Me - A-ha - Probably one of the first videos that I can remember with a plot.

The Way You Make Me Feel - Michael Jackson - Although Jacko in an alley right now would scare almost anyone I think that was a great video with a hot girl that was never ever seen again.

We're taking bets that I am a target...

People who have known me over the last years know that I am a target of random acts of destruction. Mainly this has occurred to my cars, but there has been other stuff as well. It goes all the way back to when I was a wee youth at Western New England College. I was in charge of the softball marathon and my backpack was stolen and burned to a crisp with all of my notebooks in it. Granted I didn't take great notes, but I took some.

This morning when I went to my car I noticed something on the ground near the back of my car. I looked up and noticed my rear window was smashed. Now this is the first Random Act of Destruction to my Jeep. The Daewoo(Woo for short) had two such incidents. A window was smashed out when I was at AIC and someone had done Riverdance on my roof while I was at UMass Lowell. Both of those could be explained due to the fact that I was working at colleges and a disciplinarian. There was also a good chance that people were drunk when it happened. Luckily my bosses at the time were very generous and paid my deductibles.

This time I am living in Springfield and there is no reimbursement. So $346.50 later I have a fixed window and no one to blame but life. Sometimes life does suck. I know that it is worse for many others but don't you just wish that normal people could catch a small break once in a while?

We're taking bets that some signs mean nothing...

Signs that are posted are usually pretty good. When a sign tells me to yield I pay attention. If a sign tells me there might be heavy traffic ahead I might take that into consideration when choosing which exit to take. When a sign says "Warped Tour Closed" I don't know what the hell that means. I now know it means "Your life will be fucked up for the next hour>Enjoy."

The Warped Tour is usually a rocking concert that lasts all day. Some of the acts this year were Transplants, Fall Out Boy, My Chemical Romance, The Offspring, Thrice, Dropkick Murphys, Relient K, and Strung Out. There is also 30 to 40 other acts that you probably have never heard of unless you are Mark Stern or my brother. It is a must see concert for many kids between the age of 12 and 24. I have never attended, although this year's line-up really was exciting to me.

This Monday was The Warped Tour's appearence in Northampton, MA. I just happened to be going to Northampton to see March of the Penguins and grab a bite to eat at Fitzwillys. Now you might ask why go to Northampton to see March of the Penguins when it is playing at any Showcase Cinema in the country. Well for that I blame Ian who said let's go to the Pleasant St. Theater. So on our way up 91 to exit 18 we saw a large sign that said "Warped Tour Closed". We thought that meant you cannot get any tickets to The Warped Tour. We then saw a sign that stated concert traffic should exit at exit 19. So when we approached exit 18 we hit some traffic. This was understandable because there was a concert going on. That is where the common sense ended.

The next three exits were blocked by state troopers and flares. Traffic was also moving at less than 10 miles an hour. We ended going over 13 miles out of our way before we got to Deerfield and we could turn around. Now I contend that there absolutely, positively should have been a sign saying exits 18-19 & 21 are closed. (For some reason there is no 20.) That way people could drive at their normal pace and get off either before that exit or just waited. The other confusing thing is that traffic was allowed to get off at any of the Southbound exits. What the heck is that all about? We have moved so far along in technology, but we cannot announce that three exits are closing. They could have even abbreviated it like IMer's do. I would have been fine with that. I would have needed my IM to English dictionary, but I would have been fine with that. LOL.

We're taking bets that I didn't have teachers like this...

I guess I am at a loss for words when it comes to teachers like Pamela Rogers Turner. She, a 28 year old school teacher, slept with a 13 year old. I know that kids are having sex younger and younger, but come on. Maybe with kids their own age, but not adults. I am sure that this was consentual, though I bet there would be a debate over whether a 13 year old would understand consentual sex. I say he absolutely would, but that is just me.

My second thought is what the heck is up with that boy's mother. She hoped that it did not go to trial. She is a family friend? Yeah a family friend who is sleeping with your 13 year old boy. Sometimes I just don't understand parents. There must be something definitely wrong with that mother.

Lastly why didn't I ever have a hot teacher. The closest I had was Ms. Spinelli in 3rd grade but I wasn't quite ready to accept that girls were pretty yet. Plus she got married during the year and never came back. I think that every guy who saw the video for Van Halen's Hot for Teacher hoped we would have a gorgeous teacher some day and we always ended up with Nell Carter or Rosanne Barr. I mean look at Pamela and Debra Lafave these are gorgeous married women who decided to sleep with young teenage boys. Craziness.

We're taking bets that it has been a year...

Tomorrow is the one year anniversary of We're Taking Bets That... A lot of things have changed since that first post. People have stopped almost 20,000 times in the past year. I used to work at UMass Lowell and now I work for the City of Springfield. (desperately hoping that changes soon) Everyone is now a year older. Babies have been born, relationships have began and ended. Controversy has been had especially on these pages. Truths were told. I have been hated and loved 100 times over. You know Jonathan Larson said it best in his play Rent.

How do you measure a year in the life

How about Love
how about love
how about love
measure in love
seasons of love
seasons of love

I hope everyone has enjoyed my blog a little and year 2 is just as good. See you all tomorrow in cyberspace.

We're taking bets that women around the world are screaming, NO...

Today I read a very interesting article. The basics of the article concerned fat on women's thighs. The article was saying that this fat could have health benefits. Now all these women who are working out like fiends to look like Jessica Alba and Natalie Portman are actually doing damage to themselves. Of course the medical community really has absolutely no clue whatsoever as to what is really good for you. Some people smoke until they are 90 and never get lung cancer and others like Dana Reeve never smoke at all and get lung cancer. The guy who lost a ton of weight by running died of a heart attack while running. I just wish there was someone that would tell me that Nutty Bars were healthy and we should eat them everyday.

We're taking bets that Hottie of the Week...

Hottie Eva La Rue of ABC's All My Children will now be the hottest DNA Analyst ever. She will be seen this fall on CSI Miami as Boa Vista. She has been a doctor on All My Children so I think she can pull this off. I for one am taken by her incredible smile. In every picture that you see of her she always has a great smile.

We're taking bets that answering questions was never so easy...

Question time again here at WTBT. Please post your answer in the comments section. Invite friends to answer. Open up some dialogue. Give it a try. You can be anonymous. Have fun.

A. Each generation has it's "I remember exactly where I was when" event. Besides 9/11 and the Challenger explosion what is the next biggest event for you? Why was it important to you?

B. Is it better to have dreams that will never come to pass, or to have no dreams at all?

Answers:

A. For me it would have to be the O.J. Simpson "Not Guilty" Verdict. I was at Western New England College at the time and it was then I realized how divided our country is racially. Although at the time I thought it was the right verdict because I didn't think they proved beyond a reasonable doubt he did it. I did not think the verdict was because of race. I had not thought race was a factor at all, but seeing how people around me reacted really made me look at race differently. I realized that there was no way I could always see everyone as a unique individual regardless of their race, sex, or religion. There would always be things to taint my view and that I would have to work hard everyday to try and see people as they are and not by the preconceived notions I had. 9/11 just reinforced that for me.

B. I think it is much better to have dreams that never come to pass, because you can always have hope. What good would it be to only have dreams that will come true? I know that I have a few dreams that probably will never come to pass, but I am going to continue dreaming about them and even pursuing them in some instances.

WTBT Volume Twenty-Three...

We're taking bets that...

* if there is a can of paint sitting precariously on a ledge I am going to knock it over.
* it sucks seeing Ty Law in a NY Jets uniform.
* there will be voting issues with Katherine Harris' Senate race.
* you were relieved to hear that the Shuttle landed safely in California.
* the arbitrator made a mistake reducing cameraman beating Kenny Rogers's suspension from baseball to 13 games.
* Dana Reeve could not have more bad news in her life.
* seeing the Runaway Bride mowing lawns as community service made you smile.
* there is now a way to convince your kids to put down the video game controller. Potential Death.
* Sidney Crosby will make you want to watch hockey again.
* you miss Ace of Base.
* the USC Trojans will probably be the best Offensive Team ever in college football this year.
* Tristan Prettyman will be a huge breakout star.
* Tiger will win the PGA Championship by 5 strokes.
* if you've stolen a car don't pull another driver over for running a stop sign.

We're taking bets that we all have things to say...

Here are a couple of random thoughts over the past two days.

* Marc Cohn was shot in the head during a car jacking attempt and survived. This brought up two thoughts in my head. Marc Cohn is still alive? I thought he died after winning a Grammy for Walking in Memphis. Who puts out such a great CD and follows it up with absolutely nothing? Secondly he was shot in the head treated and released. What is this guy Superman? If I was shot in the head and survived I would be in the hospital for weeks getting pampered and asking for extra morphine.

* Tony Graffanino has become the newest Red Sox hero. Hopefully he has made Mark "Strike Three" Bellhorn expendable. When is the last time you have seen a 2nd baseman intentionally walked with a guy on third? It happened last night after his 3 for 3, 1 HR, 4 RBI night.

* Talk about being a little late with your decision. Jurors in the Michael Jackson trial now regret his acquittal. Maybe you regret that your fifteen minutes of fame are up and you are trying to get fifteen more.

* Reason #863 Why Starbucks is better than Dunkin Donuts... You don't get gross liquid sugar in your Ice Coffee. I didn't even know that was an option until today. Disgusting. It is worse than when the sugar doesn't melt and you get a sugar ball through your straw. ICK!!!

We're taking bets that I've got spirit, yes I do, I've got spirit, How about you???

For everyone that says cheerleading is useless I now have a response. Cheerleaders foil hit and run. Thank God for the cheerleaders. :)

We're taking bets that he knew all aboot the news...

Peter Jennings of ABC World News Tonight passed away at the age of 67 from lung cancer. He was the last of the big three news anchors who all started in the early 80's. I will always remember him for his anchoring of the ABC Y2K celebration and his calm, cool demeanor during 9/11. Although he was picked on for being Canadian he received his American citzenship in 2003. It seems like a great era of television news has gone. Never to be seen again.

We're taking bets that you haven't lived until you have seen fighting chickens...

Has everyone seen the new Pepsi Commercial? It is an absolute riot. I know that there are people whose lives are dedicated to making us laugh or cry due to their commercial ideas but how do they keep things original. Though I guess some just use old ideas and make update them today like the some of the new Coke Commercials or the new Coke Zero Commercials. I am glad that Chicken of the Sea had gotten rid of Jessica Simpson and gone to funnier ads. Though I think they should bring back Charlie Tuna.

The last commercial I will show you will never be seen in the United States because we are way too PC. Enjoy this and if you get offended oh well. :) Kidnapping Attempt.

We're taking bets that Chief Wahoo isn't upset so why is everyone else...

I have tried to figure out how to write this post without offending people and I finally figured there was no way to do this. I have spent a good time researching this topic and although I cannot claim that I am an expert I think I am now somewhat knowledgable. I will try to make this as funny as possible because I think it is ridiculous.

The NCAA is banning the use of American Indian mascots at all sanctioned Championship Tournaments starting on February 1, 2006. There are 18 teams in the NCAA that have team names that either honor American Indians or are just called Indians. Only one team uses the somewhat offensive term of Redmen although they may be named after America's Oldest Fraternal Organization the Improved Order of Red Men. I am not sure about that. Why have we become so freaking crazy about stuff like this.

I understand that one of the great things about being in America is that you can have your opinion and express it without fear of persecution. What I don't get is why we have gotten to the point where almost everything we do is offensive. I understand that over 100 years ago our American ancestors did a lot of awful things to the native people of this land. But now we have some places that are honoring their memory by naming their teams after them. Would people be complaining if there was a team named The Lincolns after Abraham Lincoln because he was assassinated? It would upset people because everytime you saw their mascot in a stovepipe hat you would think about his assassination and then the kids would giggle because assassination has the word "ass" in it twice. What if a college wanted to name their team after George Washington Carver and their mascot was a peanut? Would that be offensive even though the man found over 300 uses for peanuts.

I am glad that some of the teams are going to fight this ruling. The Florida Seminoles were named in 1947 to honor the Seminole Indians. They have even gotten permission from the Seminole Indian tribe to continue to use the name. I can't wait until the PETA people get a hold of this. What if all of the people from Troy rise up and protest the USC Trojans? What if the radical Catholics get confused and think it is offensive too because you shouldn't use condoms? Pretty soon all of our teams will no longer be able to have any person, place or thing as team names and it will be just concepts. I don't think I could root for the Boston Ideas or the Los Angeles Thoughts. I am adding this to the growing list of why the rest of the world hates the United States. We fight over the most ridiculous things. Well I am off to watch the Boston Red Sox. I hope that doesn't upset anyone who likes to go barefoot.

We're taking bets that Hottie of the Week...

Hottie Elizabeth Banks from Pittsfield, MA. She has been in both Spider-man movies as Betty Brant and will be in the new movie 40 Year Old Virgin. It is good to see a New England girl making good in Hollywood.

We're taking bets that the answers have changed...

The lovely people at WTBT offices have decided to move the questions of the week to Thursdays. Many people try to get away on Fridays and have no time to think about these important life-changing questions. Hopefully this will elicit(yes this is the correct spelling) more responses. As always put your answers in the comments section.

A. If you could choose only two movies to watch ever again, what would they be?

B. What sounds make you angry or as Dane Cook would say, "Make you want to punch babies"?

Answers

A. This is a very tough call. I would have to say that I could watch The Godfather and The Shawshank Redemption over and over again. If there was only two movies I could choose than I would have to choose only one drama. Shawshank has a more feel good ending and one of my favorite quotes ever in, "Get busy living, or get busy dying." So I would choose that movie. My second movie would have to be a comedy of some sort and knowing my sappy nature it would probably have to be a romantic comedy. With that being said When Harry Met Sally, Sleepless in Seattle, Notting Hill and Serendipity make the cut. Since I can only have one Meg Ryan movie then Sleepless in Seattle is out. Serendipity is wonderful though I don't think Kate Beckinsale can beat Julia Roberts though Hugh Grant and John Cusak are in a dead heat. So it is down to Apricots in Honey and Rob Reiner's mother saying, "I'll have what she's having." I think it has to be When Harry Met Sally, because Billy Crystal's rants about men and women being friends are classic. Plus I love when he moans about his 24 hour tumor. So there you have it... The Shawshank Redemption and When Harry Met Sally. Man that was tough.

2. Not that I condone punching babies, but there is currently one sound that drives me up a wall and may make me punch a baby. When I hear idiots yelling "What" like Dave Chappelle did imitating Lil John on Chappelle's Show. When Dave Chappelle did it I laughed, but when others do it they cannot stop. Unfortunately Charlie Murphy says that this great show is now over, but maybe it will stop idiots from screaming it.

If you win 20 in the show, you can let the fungus grow back and the press'll think you're colorful. Until you win 20 in the show, however, it means you are a slob."
* college students are going to start protesting the war in Iraq like they did in the lates 60's and early 70's.
* Jessica Simpson makes Daisy Duke hot for the first time ever, because Catherine Back was cute, but she was never hot.

We're taking bets that his pants are on fire...

Holy Crap!!! Rafael Palmeiro was suspended 10 days for steroids. Although I can't prove myself that he did it I think the guy is a freaking liar. He accepted his punishment, but said he didn't intentionally do it and didn't know how they got into his body. Yep, I am sure that is true and John Pinette isn't a fat comedian. Raffy's high horse is now a My Little Pony. It just makes me wonder if Jason "I couldn't hit a baseball if my life depended on it" Giambi is back on the sauce. He hit 14 home runs in July and his head is looking a little big. :)
