WTBT Volume 2 Series 2009...

We're taking bets that...

* if you already have six kids you don't use fertility drugs to have eight more.
* you have to congratulate Pat Summitt for winning 1,000 game with Tennessee.
* I still don't have to like her or the Lady Volunteers.
* only NYC could search for the mysteriously great smell of syrup.
* Michael Phelps deserves all of the bad press he is getting and just because he is 23 years old doesn't give him carte blanc to do something stupid.
* Jon Stewart really doesn't give Barack Obama much slack like many people thought he would.
* butterflies are beautiful, but kind of like some beautiful women I know they are conniving too.
* most people don't even realize my blog is back.

We're taking bets that this is why I am a fan of Dane Cook...

He is really funny and he does comedy for his fans. I hope his new material is not all about sex though.

* the Super Bowl commercials were a little better than in recent years.
* UCONN will be national champions in men's and women's basketball this year.
* The Office Super Bowl episodes had its moments, but it was a little overrated.
* Big Bang Theory is easily the funniest show on TV.

* Bikini Girl is going to be the best story for American Idol in the next week.
* it stinks when you use your education for evil.
* it is definitely refreshing to hear the President of the United States say he made a mistake.
* the best catch in the Super Bowl is still Lynn Swann's falling down and catching his own tip.

We're taking bets that you are not this good...

The pilot who landed the plane in the Hudson River, Chelsey Sullenberger, might be the most responsible person in America.  One of the books he loaned out from the library was on that plane. He asked the library for an extension to pay his fines.  Uh Dude your plane CRASHED I think we can give you a pass on this one.  The library did the right thing by waving his fines.  Get this though. The title of the book... PROFESSIONAL ETHICS! You cannot make this stuff up with a pen and paper.  Crazy.  In this crazy economy it makes feel good that there are people who do the right thing even if they don't have to.

We're taking bets that Christmas just won't be the same...

I am off to South Carolina today to spend Christmas with my parents and siblings.  It is just not going to be the same, but at least I will be with family. Keep checking the blog as I will be updating everyday. Not much else to do. :)

We're taking bets that TV is good again...

It is time for my Top Twenty TV shows of 2008. They have changed quite a bit from 2007 and 2006.
Hopefully at some point 24 will actually make it back to the list. I just hope there is not another strike.

Honorable Mention: Deadliest Catch; America's Toughest Jobs; Fringe; Scrubs, Friday Night Lights, SNL, Life on Mars, 24: Redemption

20. Pushing Daisies - It had a rough return from the strike, but had really come into its own and I hope somehow it can be saved.
19. Eli Stone - ABC could you please stop putting on shows that I enjoy with characters that I like and then not give them enough time to grow. You kept According to Jim on for years!!!
18. My Name is Earl - Still a great show that has some of the best laugh out loud moments.
17. Battlestar Galactica - I cannot wait for the last few episodes. What happened to Earth?
16. Heroes - It really has lost something. I still enjoy it, but I really hope that it can make a comeback with this next chapter.
15. CSI - Still compelling television, but losing Warrick and Grissom will be really tough. Laurence Fisherburne might be okay.
14. CSI Miami - Horatio isn't dead because much like Chuck Norris nothing hurts Horatio Caine.
13. Top Chef - It just keeps getting better. I love Fab and the Rainbow group this year.
12. The Daily Show with John Stewart - Election coverage was super awesome. You cannot beat a John Stewart interview.
11. Sanctuary - This Sci-Fi show just keeps getting better. Last week's episode was incredible especially from a TV reporter point of view.
10. The Mentalist - Great new show with a lot of humor and good cases to solve. Plus Simon Baker is a looker. :)
9. House - #13 is just one of the great reasons to watch this always entertaining show. Miracle birth anyone?
8. NCIS - What a great show!!  It is so much fun and it starts each new scene in a really cool way.
7. 30 Rock - I know it is the Emmy winner, but it still isn't the funniest show on TV to me. Gotta love Kenneth though.
6. How I Met Your Mother - Who the hell is the mother? What is with the goat?  Consistently funny.
5. Life - This might be the best show people are not watching.  Who shot Crews? What is going on with Reese?  I think I am going to become a little zen.
4. The Office - Some weeks it is the best show on television.  Too much weird stuff with Angela and Dwight.  Can't Dwight just be himself every week?
3. Chuck - Nerdy spy with a super hot handler.  Fun situations every week and character that are really funny.
2. Big Bang Theory - If you are not watching this show you are wasting your Monday nights. It is absolutely hysterical every single week.
1. LOST - Holy Crap I cannot wait for this show to start again.  Going back to the island. Maybe back in time. How will they get there. What is going to happen? Who knows, but I will be there on January 21st!!!

WTBT Volume 43 Series 2008...

We're taking bets that...

* it is going to be pretty hard to top "doing a Blagojevich" as a bonehead move in 2009.
* you are glad the US is trying to protect some penguins from extinction.
* you should watch the following six holiday movies every year if you celebrate Christmas:
- Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer
- Christmas Story
- The Year without a Santa Claus
- A Charlie Brown Christmas
- Frosty the Snowman
- Love Actually
* Mark Texiera would look great in a Red Sox uniform.
* more pilots should watch out for cows when landing.
* the cow didn't even know what hit her.
* only an idiot in the US names his son Adolf Hitler.
* uniqueness is nota good excuse.
* the Boston Celtics are not going to lose again until 2009.
* it is scary when you see a mother with a thicker mustache than her teenage son.
* Aretha Franklin will rock the house when she sings at Obama's inauguration.
* inauguration will be the most misspelled word in the next month.

We're taking bets that your underwear matters...

So I accidentally bought the wrong type of underwear. I am a boxer briefs person and I bought a pair of mid-rise briefs. Since I already opened them I thought that I would try them out. It was a very strange feeling. I didn't get any wedgies or anything, but things felt different. It was almost too snug and too much of my thigh is exposed. The underwear rubs a little differently.

Guys do not really have alot of different underwear options and there is no such thing as sexy guy underwear. I don't care what Marky Mark wore back in the day. The underwear was not what made him sexy to women. After years of being a boxers person I made the switch to boxer briefs. I am not going to be switching to mid-rise briefs. It is amazing that types of underwear really do matter. Ladies enjoy the link.

WTBT Volume 42 Series 2008...

We're taking bets that...

* Lindsay Lohan is probably the dumbest celebrity in America.
* Joel Madden is the most deserving Manager of the Year ever.
* your mood has been better over the last seven days.
* Heroes is actually becoming an awesome show again and you should watch.
* the Lakers are not as good that their undefeated record.
* it surprises you the amount of people who love Jon and Kate Plus 8.
* you are looking forward for the college basketball season to finally start.
* Jim Calhoun and the UCONN Huskies will win their 3rd national championship in April.
* you should listen to musical artists like Keb' Mo'.
* it is smart to hide your pot before you call the police.
* if someone old was reading this they might hide their cooking pots before they called the police.
* the Boston Red Sox will make a big splash before Christmas.
* the $700 billion bailout might actually help real people.
* sometimes the stupidest arguments could be ended if people actually listened to each other.

We're taking bets that I am proud to be an AMERICAN!!!

BARACK OBAMA IS THE 44th
PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES!!!

We're taking bets that I was an American and I voted today...

Well it has been four years since my last vote post. I am in a different state now and it was a very different experience, but weirdly kind of the same. I was in a library instead of being with the masons. There was a strategically placed bake sale for an elementary school right outside. (I only spent three dollars, but they didn't give me a receipt so I could claim it on my taxes.)

So I walked into the library after a creepy guy complimented my Red Sox hat as he tried to give me a pamphlet. I refused because he wasn't being green and because at this point if I don't know who I am going to vote for then I should have never showed up. The place was crawling with old lady helpers, but there was one neat addition. There was a high school kid telling everyone that they need to hide or throw away the pamphlets in the voting room. He was vigilant and no one could get past him. I gave my information to the nice lady who looked me up and had a little problem finding my name. It might be because she didn't expect to see a Latino last name from me and living in Hamden, but I digress.

Once I got my ballot that was actually on an 8 1/2" by 11" piece of paper with simple instructions to fill in one circle in each column. I was then sent to a voting booth. The booths are not really booths, but tables with a three sided cardboard on it to block my votes. There also was a sharpie pen. It was pretty exciting since I was told this is a new system. WoW! Shiny new cardboard.

I filled out my ballot and got in line to put it in the fun counter machine like thing. Four people had actually screwed up their ballot and voted for too many people. There was only 6 people in line including me. This was a very easy thing. Fill in one circle in each column. There was six columns so you should have had six circles filled in. Holy crap we have a lot of dumb people in this world. I put my ballot in and another younger adult gave me an "I voted today" sticker. (It is nice to know that young people can be a part of the process but only in the sticker giving and pamphlet preventing.)

I then bought some baked goods. Went to Starbucks and paid for my coffee because I didn't need free coffee as an incentive to vote. Okay that is not entirely true; I did get the small coffee too, but only because the guy handed it to me because of my sticker. This has been a historic election and I hope my guy wins.

We're taking bets that chipmunks are actually pretty cute...

It is official. I would like to have two or three chipmunks as pets.  While I know these are not domesticated animals and they don't sing like Alvin I think they would be fun to have around.  I have seen a number of them the last few weeks. Each of them were scurrying around looking for food to store in their huge cheeks.  They are pretty. How many things actually scurry and look cute doing it?  They are at the top of the rodent chain. I think that movies like Alvin and the Chipmunks have shown that they are just waiting to be an integral part of our human society. You can bet that they will be a benefit to everyone and not bring hate but love to us. I hope one day a chipmunk named Chip and I can be friends. Of course he will have a buddy named Dale and hilarity will ensue. Oh to dream a happy dream.

We're taking bets that Hottie of the Week...

Britney Spears is officially back. I just saw her video for Womanizer.  She is super hot. She needs to stick to dance music and maybe a ballad here or there. As long as her life is straightened out maybe she will do the great things she is capable of. I hope so.
