We're taking bets that I still get choked up...

Everyone has a television show, movie or song that always gets them emotional. Whether it is a warm fuzzy feeling or tears we all have it. For me it is on the show Friends when Ross first kisses Rachel. Many people who knew me when it was first on know that I had a small obsession with the show. I have since mellowed a little. Though everytime I see that episode I will stop what I am doing and watch it in its entirety. Kind of like most people are when Shawshank Redemption or Christmas Story come on. I know it is the hopeless romantic in me, but I think it is a great scene.

I am wondering what everyone else has for their TV, Movie or Song that gets them emotional. Please make a comment. I will leave this up until I have 10 comments, because I think it is important now that the holidays are coming up to be a little emotional. :)

Yeah, I get pretty choked up everytime I watch the first chase scene from The Transporter... I mean... it just touches my soul... ::lol:: no, but really... two things it's always been hard for me to watch are

1. The scene from Blackhawk Down when they're making the calls home before they go out "Hey hun... it's me... just... just calling to say I love you... tell the kids I love them too... goodbye..." Making that call knowing there's a chance he isn't coming back to his family.

2. We Were Soldiers when the wives are delivering the telegrams to the other wives saying that their husbands gave their lives and wouldn't be coming home alive.

Being Military myself, that stuff has always hit a very... soft... spot... because I know that I've made the commitment to make that sacrafice if it's called for... it's always a possibility that I could be making that last call home... that telegram could be coming to my widow and fatherless children..

The first time I ever cried during a movie was the 9th or 10th time I saw "My Girl". I was about 18, and I had never cried during anything before - movie, TV show, anything. All of a sudden, it got to that scene where Macaulay Culkin's character is getting attacked by bees, and you know he's going to die because he's allergic... yeah, I balled for the rest of the movie. Ever since then, I do get emotional from time to time while watching movies, etc.

Most recently, that I can remember, was the NICU episode of ER a few weeks ago. Those that saw it know what I'm talking about.

I always get emotional during the movie "Steel Magnolias", the scene where Sally Field is screaming about the injunstice of her daughters death, it was the first movie I EVER cried at so I suppose it still gets to me.

Also, the song "Feels like home to me" from the musical "Michael" (Also of Dawson's Creek fame) makes me stop dead in my tracks, and brings me back to a time that seems like a lifetime ago.

ABC on Sunday's, Remake Home Addition (somthing like that) I just started watching it a few weeks ago, and let me tel you, it really moves you. They have a crew of workers go into a house demolish it and rebuild it. Most of the families are down on their luck and have little to know money. In the very few times I have watched the show, I have seen the construction workers give kids enough money to goto college, give money to a charity, donate an office to a charity. The show is something special and the real life stories just move you.

I posted already, but I thought of another really good one, My Big Fat Greek Wedding, Ian and Tulas first date, when he remembers her from the restuarant, and she says, "I was going through a phase, I was frump girl" and he says "I remember you...I don't remember frump girl, but I remeber you..."
Then on the second date when she says she's not sure if it will work cause he is not Greek and he says "what do you mean, we are just two humans getting to know each other, we're not some strange species..."
That definitley brings some tears to my eyes
I just love that movie anyway. I'm really gettin soft in my old age!

I would have to say the movies that get me all emotional are "All Dogs go to Heaven" and "Finding Nemo". The later was rough, I cried with in the first scene, I mean the dad lost his wife and his kids and is alone with just himself and a little baby fish. That still gets me all teary. All dogs go to heaven is jsut so sweet. It's amazing. Family is what warms my heart and breaks it too when threatened.

I guess it would have to be the movie "Win A Date With Tad Hamilton" when Pete tells Rosaleigh that he loves her and she decides to go with Tad anyway. That part and the rest of the movie just breaks my heart. I'm a sucker for stupid mushy romantic movies.

For me it is a song called Promise by a band called Matchbook Romance. The song is about someone leaving you that you care so much about they you feel empty without them. The lyrics to the song are great but what makes it better is that the band just puts so much feeling into their music, you can feel how strongly the singer feels when he sings, and how much intensity and energy there is in the music. If anyone wants the song just let me know and Ill get it to them.

PS – Sorry Greg, I e-mailed it to you by accident instead of posting it!
