We're taking bets that you should not blow your opportunity to inspire...

Hello WTBT readers!!! I hope that the twenty of you are doing well. It is a crazy fall in New England with 85+ degree weather the last few days. Although I like it I am a looking forward to fall. Jimmy Carter spoke here yesterday and he failed to be inspirational. I think that is a shame considering he was speaking to almost 3,000 college students. Here are a few questions for you. I hope that at least 5 of you can answer. Have fun and be anonymous if you have to.

A. If you were to give a speech to young people(high school or college aged) that needed to be inspirational what would you talk about?

B. Who is the most inspirational speaker you have ever heard?

C. Should adults try to teach young people lessons or should they leave them alone to find out about things themselves?

Answers:

A. I would speak about making a difference in just one person's life everyday and how easy it can be if you just try.

B. I think it would have to be Michael Eric Dyson. He is such a dynamic speaker and he makes me want to embrace everyone in a positive way. His views on diversity and racism are spot on and he inspires people to change.

C. I think that it should be a combination of both. Everything cannot be taught and many of life lessons are learned by experience.

We're taking bets that Hail to the Chief is great music...

Here are a few observations I have had the last few days...

* Ex-President Jimmy Carter is coming to Quinnipiac University today to accept an award. He is going to speak about nuclear weapons and the need to get rid of them. Since it is not often that a President of the United States is in your backyard I am going to see him. He is a Nobel Peace Prize winner and although he wasn't considered the best president he did a lot of good for the US and the World. I hope that when he passes away that he is recognized as a great man who loved his country.

* Most people under the age of 50 have no idea who the Little Rock Nine are. Yesterday was the 50th anniversary of the integration of Little Rock schools. President Eisenhower had to have soldiers escort the students inside. These nine teenagers are probably the most brave people that I can ever imagine. Racism and Bigotry are pretty bad these days, but in the 50's it was a whole other ballgame. Reflect on the accomplishments of the Little Rock Nine and understand that we need more brave individuals to move us further in the diversity equality.

* I know most people don't understand why Boston Legal and James Spader keep getting Emmy nominations and James keeps winning. It is simply one of the most intelligent shows on television. It's season premiere was last night and John Laroquette is now a regular. The show was fantastic. They deal with issues that even John Stewart sometimes shies away from. If you are not watching any TV at 10 pm on a Tuesday you should be tuned into ABC because you will realize there is something better out their than Dancing with the Stars and American Idol.

* Drew Brees has no longer remembered how to play quarterback for the Saints.
* Heroes was super awesome last night and I am hooked again.
* Chuck started out pretty well and I think that overall it is going to be funny.
* your favorite character is Captain Awesome.
* a mugging and a proposal at the same time is a great story for the grandkids.
* it is weird they brought up the possibility of her saying no at the end of the story.
* a lot of men are going to be talking with deeper voices today because of this study.
* it is great to not play a game and gain on the Yankees.
* the NL play-off teams will be the Mets, Brewers, Diamondbacks & Phillies.
* I do believe the Cubs are going to self-destruct again.
* Ted's tramp stamp on How I Met Your Mother was hysterical.
* you cannot wait for the slap bet countdown to be over.

WTBT Volume 72 Series 2007...

We're taking bets that...

* sleep isn't all it's cracked up to be.

* Halo 3 has gamers going crazy with anticipation.
* Smokey the cat is quite a trooper.
* it is going to be a long week for the Red Sox.
* women's rights in Japan are still a little behind, but it could be a lot worse than being banned from a sumo wrestling ring.
* Randy Moss made quite a catch on Tom Brady's perfect pass.
* Heroes fans cannot believe the season premiere is finally here.
* you know Hiro is going to make it back to modern times eventually.
* with the exception of the Colts and the Pats the rest of the NFL is pretty even.
* you should not mess with senior citizens and their doughnuts.
* UCONN Husky Football could be 6-0 before they meet Louisville.
* this man should go to jail for a long time.
* you are shocked people watched this happened.
* some parents just don't know how cruel they can be without even trying.

We're taking bets that you did not miss O.J. Simpson...

Hello WTBT readers!!! I hope you all are having a great time as we move into the fall. It is one of my favorite four seasons. :) There are a few fun questions for everyone to answer. I hope you enjoy them. Have a great day and to all of my Jewish friends enjoy Yom Kippur. I also forgot to say to my Muslim friend enjoy Ramadan.

A. O.J. Simpson is back in the news. What old or shouldn't be celebrity do you hope never comes back into the news?

B. If you could be famous for something nutty what would it be?

C. If you had a butler/maid, but they could only do one chore for you what would it be?

Answers:

A. I do not want to have Tonya Harding back in the news for any reason. She is an awful person who should just stay anonymous. You hired people to hurt another person and never went to jail. Crazy!

B. I would like to be Angelina and Brad's new adopted child. That would be kind of crazy especially since I am old. They could pay off all of my debts.

C. I would have them wash and iron my clothes. That would be the best, never having to worry about that.

We're taking bets that the O.J. trial is back...

Here are a few observations for this week...

* O.J. Simpson is in jail and being arraigned today. I seriously hope that this does not become another media circus. He is the reason that the media is so celebrity driven today. It doesn't seem possible that he could take things to another level, but he did.

* Beware of the head butt in a fight. It is dangerous. Even if you never get into fights you should be careful of accidentally head butting someone. Why do I say this? Because of this story of an armless man who killed a man with one head butt.

* Tomorrow there is a big rally for the Jena 6 in Louisiana and across the country. Fellow bloggers and readers please check out my old post and remind people that racism still exists in this country. We need to put a stop to it and learn that differences are what make us special.

* it is a shame that the Women's World Cup games are on at 8 am during a weekday.
* I am excited that I have Friday off for Yom Kippur.

We're taking bets that Hottie of the Week...

Since the US Women's Soccer Team is currently kicking ass in the World Cup I thought we should focus on one of the newest shining stars. Hope Solo who no doubt is the offspring of Han Solo and Princess Leia is the hottest goalie in the world. She is the US's number one goalie and she should be around for years to come.

WTBT Volume 69 Series 2007...

We're taking bets that...

* the poor Portland TrailBlazers cannot catch a break even when they get the #1 pick.
* in this hairy situation they should have just let the poor guy go.
* Bill Belichick should have been suspended for at least one game.
* suprisingly I agree with Venezuela and crazy Hugo Chavez on banning peculiar baby names.
* most sports fans will not be watching the most exciting game on Sunday: The WNBA Finals deciding Game 5.
* sometimes a simple conversation makes all the difference in another person's attitude.
* if you are from New England and you have never been to the Big E that needs to change this year.

We're taking bets that you are charitable...

Welcome WTBT readers!!! I hope you are having a great late summer day. It is a little chilly here in New England, but it feels great. Got to see Big Papi hit another walk-off home run last night. Quite an exciting experience. Here are a few questions for everyone. I hope you enjoy them. Have a great day!!!

A. You’ve won $50,000 – but have to give it all away. To which charity or institution would you donate it?

B. If you were going to name a foundation or charitable organization what would it be and why?

C. If you won $10 million what percentage would you give to charity.? (Imagine you got all the money and no taxes were taken out.)

Answers:

A. I would give it to the Alzheimer's Research Foundation because it is the one disease that frightens me most. I love my thoughts and memories and could not imagine losing them everyday. After seeing my grandmother go through it even though it wasn't fully diagnosed I want it cured.

B. It would be the Julia Dessereau Searching For Cures Foundation after my grandmother.

C. I would give 25% because I think that I could easily live well with only 75%. Hopefully this comes true one day. Oddly enough my grandmother had a dream that I would win the lottery one day. I didn't know this was completely grandma themed.

We're taking bets that our troops should come home...

Here are a few interesting thoughts...

* I appreciate that scientists do research on all kinds of absurd topics. Once in a while though you will hear some research that really makes sense. English scientists at the University of Portsmouth have realized that breasts bounce when women exercise. In order to reduce breast pain they are attempting to design better bras that reduce bounce. I for one am glad that they are looking at this. I mean someone could get hurt and we need to reduce collateral damage. Good for you English scientists!

* The New England Patriots deserve every punishment they get for cheating. It is hard for me to defend my favorite football team for stupidity. The worst thing is that they are a great team this year and do not need to cheat to get an advantage. I hate that they are becoming the Yankees of Football. I just hope it doesn't mean that we are going to get someone creepy like Jason Giambi on our team. Oops we already had Rodney Harrison and his drugs. I just hope when he returns he doesn't look like a 70's grease ball.

* Last Comic Standing is down to its final two comedians. You should watch the show tonight at 9 pm on NBC because you will get to laugh. There is nothing like laughter. Plus they are going to recap all of the other hilarity that they have shown so far. So get your laugh on tonight and have a great time.

We're taking bets that...

* having an air conditioner in your office is great except when it i pouring rain.
* it is difficult having a meeting when it sounds like there is machine gun fire outside.
* at some point today you should have a moment of silence for those who died due to the terrorist attacks on 9/11.
* Chad Jackson's touchdown celebration was boring last night.
* toe licking is a weird fetish as is, but robbing someone and then licking their toes is downright disgusting.
* Belichick and the Pats are looking a little suspicious with video taping.
* even without it they would have killed the Jets.
* I hope it's not true.
* Big Brother has gone too far again.
* you thought it was going to be a marijuana flower or something actually serious.
* some football coaches go way too far.
* you should say a pray for the Buffalo Bills Kevin Everett and a full recovery from spinal cord injury.

* men's tennis is getting really boring watching Roger Federer win just about every major.
* Georgia cops really like their McDonald's hamburgers.
* Ellis Hobbs could have ran 150 yards and he would have never been caught on his record breaking kick return.

%%% VMA SPECIAL SECTION %%%

* John Norris and his blond dye job freaked you out in the Pre-Show.

We're taking bets that you have memories about your hometown...

Hello WTBT readers!!! I hope that everyone is enjoying September. It is always one of my favorite months because it is the start of fall. The leaves change colors and where I work becomes one of the most beautiful areas in New England. I have a few questions for everyone. I hope you enjoy them. Remember to invite others and they can be anonymous.

A. How many different residences have you lived in since you were born?

B. Where do you consider your hometown and what is your favorite thing about it that isn't your family?

C. Is there any where in the world you wished you spent your childhood?

Answers?

A. I have lived at 5 different colleges, two apartment complexes, and three houses. Of course on each campus except AIC I lived in at least two different locations. I have definitely moved a lot.

B. South Windsor, CT. It is where I went to through most of my schooling. I love that from one hill on the opposite side of town you can see Hartford in the distance. I also enjoy that there are still a bunch of farms in the town but it is next to the biggest shopping area in Northern CT.

C. I think I would have loved growing up in Boston. It would have made me very independent and confident especially since I would have rode the T and bus lines by myself.

We're taking bets that FYI does not mean Finding Your Iguana...

Here are three little bits of important information or thoughts for everyone.

* The VMAs are on Sunday and they should be added to your weekend to do list. I know that they will be played 7,000 times between then and the next Sunday, but seeing them live make for great conversation. Something completely ridiculous is going to happen especially with Britney Spears and Kanye appearing. Do not miss out.

* Do you ever wonder why we in the "civilized" world don't make sacrifices more often. No I don't mean giving up Dunkin Donuts coffee to save time in your carpool. I mean killing a cat to appease God. Okay that is probably a little harsh, but I think the Nepalese might be onto something. If you use the whole goat it really is not a big deal. As long as we are not sacrificing humans and Michael Vick isn't involved I think we could get back into this practice in the US.

* Football season starts tomorrow and this means that many men and women will be useless from 1 pm to Midnight on Sundays. That seems like a bit of a stretch, but it is toatlly true. I am beginning to think that more women are dressing up in football jerseys and cheering on their favorite teams more than ever before. I thank J. Lo for the woman in a football jersey look because of what she looked like in Out of Sight. Gorgeous. It made it okay for them to wear the jerseys. So everyone do not get mad at your significant other if they are a little distracted on Sundays through the fall. Just put on a jersey and cheer.

* spending at least $10,000 on porn videos is crazy.
* Phil Mickelson is back swinging with the elite in the PGA.
* Jerry Lewis is an idiot and even though he makes a lot of money for charity dropping the "f" word is unacceptable.
* at least you feel he is more apologetic than Isaiah Washington.
* Michigan Football will be lucky to get back into the Top 20 of college football polls.
* Whoopi took no time at all getting all Rosie on the View.
* defending Michael Vick is like defending R. Kelly. He did it and won't be punished like he should be.
* Stephen Kellogg and the Sixers put on an absolutely fabolous show and if you get the chance to see them you should go.
* the NL pennant races will be exciting, but the AL will be boring.

We're taking bets that Hottie of the Week...

Hottie Maggie Q is out with another new movie this week Balls of Fury. She is the hottest thing ever to come out of the Die Hard movies(unfortunately with a truck up her ass) and I think she is just getting started with her movie career. This Polish/Irish/Vietnamese actress will hopefully be lighting up our screens with her beautiful smile for years to come.
